ktvu's ken pritchett is in sacramento tonight. what does this mean for his plan to extend tax increases? >> reporter: the governor is still asking for the tax extensions but he is not asking for as much money because of the new revenues. and governor ron brown says while the revenues are helpful to california's situation we still face a significant short fall. >> reporter: governor ron brown says the budget stands at $10 billion after a $6.6 billion in new tax revenue. >> the economy in california is looking good. not as good as it's been but definitely on the mend. >> reporter: half goes to k-12. the other half reduces the amount of tax extensions he is asking for but he still needs four republican votes. >> i am talking to anybody i think that is a plausible vote. >> reporter: republicans say with new revenue there is no support for new taxes. >> he is more comfort of the possibilities than i am. >> reporter: without tax extensions california faces an all cuts budget. it could mean another $5 billion in cuts to education. >> i h

[ inaudible audio ] >> ktvu's rob roth has been at sfo all day and he joins us live with what happened on board that flight. >> reporter: the passenger is expected to make his first appearance in court in san francisco tomorrow morning. >> reporter: this is rageh almurisi after his arrest. the fbi is charging him with interfering with a flight crew. rageh almurisi was on american airlines flight 1561 from chicago. about a half hour before landing at sfo rageh almurisi got out of his seat and walked to the cockpit door. rageh almurisi then lowered his shoulder and rammed the door. rageh almurisi kept yelling and pushing forward. a fight attendant tried to restrain him and then passengers helped. rageh almurisi attempted to break free and return to the cockpit door. >> they were able to subdue that passenger, place him on the ground and use the handcuffs the flight attendants have. they were able to put them on behind his back. >> reporter: passengers reported rageh almurisi shouted god and great but police wouldn't confirm that. rageh almurisi has a passport from yemen -- yemen. a spoke

ktvu was the first to arrive on scene. and we were the only ones to get a look at the scene just minutes after the shooting happened. now at 9:00 officers had received some inside information violence was about to erupt here. they got a tip on a target vehicle. a light blue van tailed by what they say was the victim's car a red lexus. within an hour and a half they spotted those cars and moved in. gunfire started. two suspects were wounded. and a third took off. officers and federal investigators swarmed the area. >> in situations like this it requires a lot of resources. and we try to get as many officers as we have on duty here to establish command and control of the situation. >> reporter: now police were able to find that third suspect in a nearby yard two hours later using an infrared device on their helicopter. he was not hurt. we do not know what instigated the entire shooting. we know officers recovered several weapons. two found on a nearby rooftop wrapped in a towel or some sort of clothing. there was also anothe

ktvu's allison burns is in our washington d.c. newsroom with the latest briefings from the white house and the pentagon. allison. >> reporter: it was true detective work that began about four years ago when u.s. intelligence operatives learned the name of osama bin laden's courier. here's the rest of the time line. in august of last year they identified that compound in pakistan where they believed the courier lived. they soon learned bin laden himself might be there and they notified president obama. by march in the midst of the big congressional budget battle, president obama began a series of very high level meetings to develop options to capture or kill bin laden. this past friday before he went to see the storm damage in alabama, president obama authorized the operation. and on sunday around 3:30 eastern time a small team of elite u.s. forces raided the compound and killed bin laden. now this is some video of the sprawling mansion area where bin laden was shot. i just talked to a former defense intelligence official who has w

jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> time now 6:06. new reports this morning now identifying the housekeeper who has the child fathered by arnold schwarzenegger. she's identified as 50-year-old mildred patricia baena who goes by the name patty. she worked in the schwarzenegger family home for 20 years before retiring in january. and there are reports she didn't tell schwarzenegger about the child until the child was a toddler. he's now said to be about 14 years old. new york times says baena was working at the home and was pregnant at the same time maria shriver was pregnant with the youngest of the schwarzenegger's four children. now maria shriver issued this statement. she says "this is a painful and heartbreaking time. as a mother, my concern is for the children ." >>> this morning san francisco police are looking for the gunman responsible for a shooting near usf. investigators say a 22-year-old man was shot several times while sitting in his car late monday night. the victim managed to drive himself to the richmond police station

ktvu's in oakland with reaction. eric. >> reporter: this is certainly a hot topic here at coffee shops. we've been watching reaction absolutely exploding on twitter this morning. of course the big news arnold schwarzenegger recently admitted to having a child out of wedlock with a long time member of his household staff and that's apparently when schwarzenegger's wife, maria shriver, said she was moving out. the couple initially did not give a specific reason why they were separating when they made that announcement last week. but now the l.a. times is reporting schwarzenegger fathered a child more than a decade ago with a woman who worked for his family for more than 20 years. now that woman nor the child has been identified. she finally retired earlier this year. arnold says he told his wife about the child after leaving his governor's office this year. maria shriver has declined to comment about all. this morning fans of schwarzenegger and one woman from eastern europe told us she's still behind him. >> i think he

in san francisco, david stevenson, ktvu channel 2 news. a man arrested on a parole violation is either a victim of a con or prolific burglar, depending on who's talking. oakland police arrested the 41- year-old after being called to this home on valley view road. a realtor, who was selling the foreclosured property, found him living there. they also discovered items of ten burglaries. neighbors tell us they didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. >> it's kind of a, you know, eclectic neighborhood and safe and so everybody thinks they are pretty safe around here. >>> tonight a woman who says she's his wife say they were conned into renting the home and all the items, including what's in the backyard are lawfully theirs. minutes ago police e-mailed us and says they have a history for similar crimes. >>> prisons going green, the department of corrections announced a deal to install solar panels at five prisons. they will pay for the installation and sell the excess electricity. they'll split the profits with the state. the prisons are in
