they are called cactus pears because they are grown on cactus and shaped like a pear. loaded with flavor. select and store them right. yellow and red. when you buy them, you want to make sure they are nice and red like this all the way around, the red variety. a little greening is okay but not too much all the way around. now, cactus pears already cleaned. the needles are gone. in the old days they would come wrapped in paper with some of the needles still in there and when you go to cut them and peel them, you get those needles stuck in your thumb for two or three days you can't get them out. as a matter of fact, in my dad's backyard he would have some of these growing and what happens is, i go pick them and those needles will be there for weeks. not kidding! okay, i'm kidding you maybe a couple of days and that's it but it was so hard to get them out. now they are already clean for you. where were these 20 years ago? when you bring them home store them, here the key now, on the counter not in the refrigerator. cactus pears, loaded with flare, great in salad, great ou

based on what i am hearing from the housing element and based on what i pear from abag reports and all the other studies i am constantly hearing presented to us here, i am not sure how some of the projects we're being asked to approve meet any of the standards around affordability and meeting the needs of families and keeping families here in san francisco. at some point, you know, it would be interesting to note who are moving into these units of three-bedroom housing in the mission. a lot of the new projects that we're approving here, projects that have been aproved over the past five years, i would like to know if there is a way the know who is living in two and three-bedroom units that we are allegedly making available in order to fill the void for family housing in the city. when i hear people say things like this is the type of housing we need more of, i am not convinced that it is, especially not given the price point of most of the housing we are seeing on the market.
