we had d.c. fire, spokesperson here to tell us what happened. >> well, when firefighters arrived on the scene literally, the firehouse a block away. they had heavy fire conditions and smoke. they called for a precautionary second alarm. this is a pretty large building. it is very long as you look from the u street. pretty significant fire in the first level which is the wine store, upstairs is a dance studio, heavy damage. good thing is nobody was injured. nobody was in the building at the time but we did have about 75 firefighters out here. it was a second alarm. they made some pretty quick work of it. they were able to knock down the bulk of the fire. >> you guys were only a block away. >> all of our stations got here pretty quickly. we were here within moments but even so, when we arrived, we had heavy fire conditions. >> reporter: this is a popular area, popular business, the u street wine and beer. >> it is right in the middle of the u street corridor right at 114th and u. it is a popular ar
