kcbs radio's matt bigler joins us. >> reporter: a lot of people are surprised that hewlett- packard the world's number one computer manufacturer would want to get out of the pc business altogether but there are some good business reasons. it's not official yet. the company is still making a decision it says. first of all, pc sales are only about 30% of the company's overall profit. and profit margins on pcs are extremely low compared to computer services that it sells to businesses or other governments. that's what the company is now looking at doing more of. what was a big surprise yesterday was hp dumping palm the web os company. they just bought them last year and launched the touch pad computer a few weeks ago and now closing it down. the main reason sales are abysmal of the touch pad. best buy was selling so few of the touch pads that they actually asked hp to take back some of the stock. so what's next? one analyst we talked to this morning said that the company may want to sell its pc division to a company like samsung or possibly spin it off which would help stockholders. by the
