ktvu's tara moriarty is live to explain why police are not sure where the violence took place. >> reporter: still no official word from daly police about this reported stabbing. they cleared the crime scene and we got a chance to look at the section of the parking lot that they cordoned off. police did tell us that a witness or a victim's statement had led them to that bowling alley. here's what we do know -- just after 3:00 this morning, ambulance rushed two men to the hospital with what appears to r -- what appeared to be very serious stab wounds. the victims arrived at seton medical center in daly city. it's across from the bowl. but since that unit doesn't have a trauma unit, they were transferred by ambulance. not sure how they got there. a witness said the wounds seemed to be very serious. they are going to be investigating and trying to piece together exactly what happened. we are no word on the condition. victim but we are supposed to be speaking to daly police in about an hour and we'll, of course, bring you an update on the investigation. we're live in daly city, i'm tara moriart

live in san carlos, i'm tara moriarty. >>> well, the power's back on for 2800 pg&e customers. about 5:30 this morning the crews finished repairing a substation where the big problem started. pg&e said the damaged peels of equipment needed to be replaced. it began about 10:00 last night. >>> overnight in the sacramento area authorities called off the search for someone who tried to break into fulsom prison. fulsom police said someone jumped over the prison fence early this morning. one of the officers patrolling saw him doing it with night vision equipment. it happened about 1:30 in the morning. after searching four and a half hours with police dogs police found no one. the trespasser did leave behind a bicycle, which was taken away by police. >>> a fire at a recycling yard appeared to spread. it started yesterday at the river city recycling center. the company manager jumped in a tractor and started pulling apart a pile of burning debris to help get water inside. firefighters said it wasn't a water problem, they just needed to get trucks closer. one firefighter was injured. >>

tara moriarty is there now. you found out when the power should be back on, tara. >> reporter: it looks like it will be another three hours. 9:00 is what pg&e crews are shooting for. they believe they know the cause of the outage. it would be a snapped tree branch. hard to see right here on the street. it's right up there near the wires. if you pan to the right you can see how far the pg&e crews extend. this outage lasts for at least ten city blocks. it spans an entire freeway. you see the power pole and how the wire goose aye cross 101. the entire neighborhood is pitch black. the only lights here are from pg&e crews working trying to fix that high power line. neighbors say after 9:00 last night they heard loud bangs, pops, and glass shattering. television sets were blown out. lightbulbs exploded triggering this outage in 15 apartments and homes. another 20 homes on glenway and green street. pg&e worker says about 400- volts of electricity went through the homes instead of the usual 110. the search burned out sm

but as ktvu tara moriarty tells us, those demonstrators will face opposition this time. >> reporter: later today right here at the civic center bart station there will be a protest against the protest. a group of bart riders say it's fed up with all of these previous demonstrations and now they want to do something about it. the movement is called taking back bart. and commuters plan to carry signs asking police not to shut down any more stations. they are upset with the group called anonymous which has had protest over the past several weeks. now police say a crack down on unruly protestors today. not waiting as long as they did last time. but some bart customers are not sure if dualing protests are the answer. >> i'm not sure you know what good it's going to do really. people need to get to and from places. i think there has to be a different way to express your opinions instead of disrupting thousands of people. >> the anonymous protestors have been angry about two things. first an officer involve shooting of a homeless man back in july. and the cutting off of cell phone service.

ktvu's tara mori aty has just a -- tori artie has just a -- tori -- tara moriarty has just arrived. >> reporter: fire marshals believe candles may be a possibility as to how this fire started. the home actually has no electricity. the homeowner was undergoing some renovation. if you take a look behind me, you can see fire investigators sifting through what remains of that front room. that's the family room where the firefighters found the body of a 60-year-old. they got the call at 4:45. when they arrived, neighbors said they knew a man lived there and they had seen him earlier that night. we believe there was a delay in detecting the fire. the home was very secure and one of the back doors was -- was screwed shut. so we had to knock the defer down in order to get in -- knock the door down in order to get in. >> reporter: the cause is under investigation. we do not have an official word as of yet. we're live in martinez, i'm tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> 8:37. police in london are gearing up determined to stop a wave of violence that's led now to three nights of rioting. com

. >>> reports of four people stabbed in daily city, tara moriarty just left the bowling alley as police were clearing the crime scene, tara? >> reporter: we are here and still awaiting official confirmation about this stabbing. we were this where police sexed over a parks lot and they removed that crime scene tape and left. here is what we know four men were rushed to san francisco general hospital with what appears to be serious stab wounds. one man was losing a lot of blood an emergency crews were administering pints of blood. the victims arrived at the hospital first but since they did not have a trauma unit they were transported there. i'm not sure how they must have got end to the hospital but we did not know if the stabbing handed at the bowling alley and statements were made that indicated the bowling alley is where the violence erupted and police did not receive the emergency call until 3:00 a.m. so there is a two hour gap so there is a lot unanswered questions and we will be sure to keep you updated as the information becomes available. >>> let's go to sal, hopefully things are

as tara moriarty tells us there's been no sign of him since his canoe flipped over. good morning. >> reporter: rescue crews from the coast guard have focused their search, we've noticed this morning, on the northern end of treasure island. and minutes ago we watched as the helicopter made its way past the bay bridge. now, several rescue teams have been missing -- have been looking for this canoer. three men went out. their boat flipped over. they all flipped over. two men stayed. one went to get belongings. >> i definitely want to emphasize the importance of having safety gear on all motorboats, personal floatation devices, flare, emergency whistles and emergency position indicating radio beacons. any of these items would make it much easier to locate you in a situation like this. >> we've had a lot of agencies looking for this man, people from various departments, fire departments and police departments from san francisco to tiburon, south is a leito -- south salita. they've checked out angel island and alcatraz. but so far, no sign of him. we're told no foul play w

tara moriarty is here telling us about the decision to cut off cell phone service which is raising complex questions. >>> we just put a call to the fcc and we do know civil rights groups have backed off any legal action against bart. bart put itself on the radar screen for no reason. bart blocked cell phone service for three hours before they got unrulely and they were angry over the shooting of a knife- wielding man on july 3rd. turning off cell phone service was taken to prevent rioting and this woman said she thought the decision was too brash. >> when you know there is going to be a protest you should plan strategical and a knee jerk reaction is not going to work. >> reporter: the a.c.l.u. met with bart as protests were still going on and while they have no plans to file a lawsuit the attorney is disappointed that the transit agency did not present to refrain from using topics like this in the future. we are talking about whether or not it was cut off and the reason they told the crowds to dispurse and felt no further action was required. >>> all right you can find more information by

tara moriarty joins us live now to talk about this new push to keep kids safe in the south bay. >> reporter: the san jose city councilman proposing this idea says san francisco has managed to avoid them so he doesn't see why san jose can't do the same. we're in front of saint leo's school where the speed limit is 25 miles an hour. but san jose could change it to 15 miles an hour. the proposal will be considered at the council's open rules and government committee. now, a year ago san jose reduced the speed limit to 50 miles an hour near trace elementary, hoover middle, and lincoln. many parents applaud the move. critics say changing the signs wouldn't be necessary if the current speed limit were enforced but some statistics show people struck by a car going 30 miles an hour, half survive. a third of traffic families involve children walking or biking to school. we have reached out to a councilman who came up with the idea. >>> a a few -- a few seconds ago we -- we saw 55-gallon barrels running down. goodness knows what was inside that. this is the passaic river. now it's double the flood st
