joining me now is nbc's jamie who has been following the story. so how do we know that decision is a no-go for the presidential run? >> i just got off the phone with sources who tell me that he is not the going to run. he came very close to deciding to get into the race, but at the end, he decided that he was just going to wait. i'm told that one of the things that made the last two weeks different and why he was reconsidering, was really an accumulation of people coming to him to ask him to get in the race. and this went beyond donors and party leaders. but he was getting letters from farmers in nebraska and iowa asking him to get in. and that's why he seriously considered over the last two weeks. we've already heard the reports henry kissinger had come to him, a lot of big donors had come to him. so he felt he needed to take another look at it. i am told that he came very close to getting in. people pushed him very hard on the politics of getting in but, in the end, he decided exactly what he's been saying for the last year was he's not ready ye
