i was also fortunate enough to find and in turn by the name of jonathan yee. this was through a round of golf was playing monday. i met his father, and he said his son was interested in an internship. and jonathan, who graduated from the program at berkeley, came over and help us develop an existing build out analysis of the existing zoning in japantown and has rejoined me now after having a brief paying jobs over the summer. we then started to work and something called the japantown design standards that were based, in part, on existing city design standards, better streets program ideas, as well as little tokyo's design standards from los angeles. but jonathan and maria, who i mentioned earlier, were instrumental in helping to pull together the initial draft of that document. we have also been working very closely with the neighborhood on developing some revised neighborhood commercial district controls. currently, there is an nc2 district that runs on the north side of posed street and buchanan streets. there is the nc3 district between fillmore and laguna.

in istanbul is our correspondent, jonathan head. jonathan, can you give us more detail about the attack? >> we know that there were two attacks on military units in the morning in a province called hakkari. that's where you tend to have most of the military action because it's right next to the border with iraq and they can come across fairly easily. these are the most serious attacks in terms of loss of life for the turkish army. since 1993, there is always a strong, emotional nationalist reaction from the turkish public and the turkish government. there's already the president, normally a pretty moderate man, has threatened what he called a great revenge. so we're expecting, indeed, already seeing evidence of a turkish military response, and they've lost 24 soldiers in these two attacks, plus five policemen killed in a desperate attack yesterday, and the death toll could rise. they were quite significant attacks. turkish planes and helicopters have been seen heading over toward iraq, and we believe that there may be turkish ground

jonathan is right. he had 10 days to get the story right and the fact that it took him this long says something about the campaign. >> what are does it say to you when you look at this issue of the way they handled this crisis and what it means going forward. is it a one-week hit and are we having a different narrative? >> it might have, but what this story does is a piece of evidence that the cain campaign despite riding high in the polls and having a lot of interest is not quite ready for prime time. whether it's questions about his stance on abortion and a border fence and about his stance on his 9-9-9 plan, herman cain you ask him a question and he gives you an story and another story the next time you push him on it. this shows that herman and his campaign, they are simply not ready for the spotlight they are under right now. >> what's the solution then? they are not ready for the spotlight. what do they do with them? the statements that have come from cain and his surrogates, is that good enough?
