an -- ocean city evacuated into a ghost town. after a long tight in hours and hours of driving rains and winds, slow moving irene moved out of the state early that morning and it became clear we'd be spared the feared storm surge up the chesapeake. even more surprising, ocean city still escapes with just moderate flooding. but all the cross the state wide spreed tree damage and massive power line downings reached staggering proportions. 850,000 marylanders were without power. and many of us would be in the dark in the heart of baltimore county would be in the dark for more than a week as crews tried to fix the shredded power grid. days later, a storm named lee headed for the free state. lee delivers yet another 12 inches of water on top of our already saturated ground triggering massive flash flooding. most of it captured by the viewers. and on the roads where many drivers decided to turn their cars into speedboats or submarines. but one major flood didn't subside quickly. at least two feet of rain in two different storms ended u

we do have 50 gown in ocean city but 1- -- 51 ination and 52 in bel air and 51 on kent island and 51 in annapolis. the water temperatures have been keeping the city around the edge of the water, pretty moderate. and the water temperature has gone up about 2 degrees over the last week or so. we're closer to about 48 degrees. we were about 45 just about two weeks ago and the water temperature is going up because of the mild conditions. winds from the south and southeast have still continued to bring in very mild air. and what we'll be watching over the next four hours, already soo starting to see it in the lower portion of the radar down around virginia is the leading edge of the system. i'll pause this to give you an idea. the system will race on through here. we'll see it in the overnight hours. about a half inch to maybe an inch in localized spots. could bring with it thunderstorms because it is bringing warm air in from the gulf. the next system comes in and dumping snow over new mexico, over colorado and following the same pattern. now the way they are going to play into the forec

we have had ai few low clouds over ocean city. other than that, you're going to see the sunshine as you start off the day. as i mentioned this high pressure system is building into the area. this will stick around through most of the weekend. then we focus on the next storm system, which is already coming in across the plains, bringing rain from wisconsin down into texas. the back side of this, there is snow back in western kansas and nebraska as well. of course, this is december and what we expect to happen as we head into the later half of the fall. this storm system will be heading our way for the next couple days. first it will bring warmer weather and eventually bring a chance for rain and a significant cooldown. i want to show you national temperature scheme now. you see cold air across the mid-atlantic. look at this mild air coming back into texas and oklahoma. this is coming in ahead of the next storm system. we'll get that brief warm up before the chill sets in behind the system. for the forecast, seasonably cool. mostly
