with that, we bring in jeff ranieri. it is beautiful. how's it looking for the weekend? >> pretty good throughout saturday and sunday. just as jantober is catching on, it starts to exit. we've seen temperatures drop 10 degrees today, down to 61 in santa rosa. livermore, 61 as well. and 60 right in redwood city. also seeing some marked cooling in los gatos with 59 degrees. 57 up into san francisco as the onshore flow returned. the fog is coming back and a lot of low level cloud cover hanging around at the coastline. right now, we have 42 in napa. 48 in fairfield. it's that cold air that's already starting to settle in, that is going to bring us a bone-chilling night yet again with some fairly light winds right now, anywhere from 2 to 3 miles per hour here for our interior east bay sections. 7-mile-per-hour wind in redwood city and 6 miles per hour in san jose. so for tonight, while we had a weak disturbance pass well off to the north in washington and oregon, that meant little to nothing for us today as we're still finding ourselves with very, very dry conditions with hig

jeff ranieri, i think some of us are also getting ready for a little drying off as well. >> yes. after that much-needed rainfall, we are going to see this trend starting to shift for us. i did want to show you all this rainfall total graphic one more time in case you missed it. these numbers impressive. over a 72-hour period santa rosa picking up over 6.5 inches of rainfall. napa nearly 4.5. close to 5 in morgan hill. san francisco downtown over 2.5 and close to an inch in san jose so numbers really varied widely, but overall it was some excellent news for the water season here across the bay area. as the doppler radar scans around, we are finding some dry conditions. that's good, especially with all of the rock slides we've been reporting on but we could use quite a bit more rainfall for our season. the numbers not too bad. we did get in some on sunshine but still a lot of cloud cover overhead today. 54 in san jose, 51 in livermore, 53 in san francisco. holding on to some low 50s up into the north bay with santa rosa a little warmer there at 57 degrees. as we continue throughout

to see how this february is shaping up and beyond, let's chick in with jeff ranieri in the nbc bay area weather center. how does it look? >> what we're finding in the satellite radar picture, pretty tire when you look at the current state. while we have a cool front moving across, it's not producing much in terms of rainfall, and let's go ahead and get a look at the predictions. over the next 30 days, it's going to be dry here. we're looking at a snow pack of 40% of normal here in and throughout the sierra. when we soom in, what you'll find is over the next 30 days, below average rain chances by all accounts for the bay area. even for the next 90 days, we'll continue to trend dry with likely this drought development continuing for the northeast, also the south bay continuing right up to lake tahoe. so not great news there when it comes to this dry weather. now, right now, when we look at the numbers overall, we're starting to see things cool off a little bit after another mild day despite the cloud cover that hung around from the fog this morning. pretty warn influx from the south, also
