i'm marlo tellez, and i'm john kelly. this morning the mortgage mess. >> a new report shows more people will lose their homes in 2012 and to make it worse, 150 people are now without work after an east bay mortgage insurer cut their jobs. we do have team coverage this morning. nbc bay area's bob redell is live in walnut creek where 150 workers have been sent packing, but we begin with business and tech reporter scott mcgrew in our newsroom. why are more closures getting worse? >> perhaps, marlo because we tried to make them better. the data from realty track say foreclosures in 2012 will be more numerous because back in 20 len those same foreclosures were delayed by legal action and delayed by the investigation into roberobeo signing by banks the federal government and states and banks worked to give families a second chance with longer grace periods and reduction in principle. it would appear those delays, though, while reducing the number of foreclosures in 2011 just shifted the numbers into 2012. realty track says arou

i'm marlo tellez. >> i'm jon kelley. the light rail finally in san francisco after a wrongway driver steered his way into the tracks and into the muni tunnel. it was shut down while crews there pushed that suv off of the tracks. nbc christie smith is joining us live near the tunnel and christie, you had a chance to speak with the muni worker who saw all of this. i guess it must have been a wild scene out there. >> reporter: we spoke with a muni worker who said he couldn't believe his eyes because he says the driver blew past not one, but two signs out here that clearly say do not enter and he went right into the tunnel where trains would be coming out right at him, but fortunately, he wasn't hit. instead, he went quite a ways in and ran into a wall. a worker ran in and snapped a picture saying the driver told him when he got out i'm not from here, but what a mess near the dubois tunnel at 6:00 for the commuters just trying to get downtown into work. trains couldn't roll through for a time and the bus bridge was set up un

. >> i'm marlo tellez. bart riders are helping police crack down on criminals who are stealing copper from train tracks and stations. christie smith is live. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. these bart thieves are aggressive. they've already hit six times this month alone in oakland and san leandro. what they do is they often cut through fences like this one, ignoring all warning signs about an electric third rail and it is expensive, costing bart more than $100,000 last year. they get in, they steal the copper, often off the tracks. it hasn't disrupted service yet, but it can slow things down. they seem to hit overnight when the trains aren't running so they're asking for the public's help. go to give bart police a call. they think it's probably being stolen for scrap. here's bart's police chief. >> targeting replacement copper on a spool. they're cutting through fences and coming into our maintenance yards and everything you can imagine. these guys are very, very entrepreneur spirit, i guess. they
