first woman elected mayor of oakland. the first asian elected mayor of oakland. first asian woman elected mayor of a major city in this country. she is proud of that. we are all proud of that. you know a lot about her story. you know she is a champion for youth, for schools, and becoming a champion for economic development in our city. you know some of the difficulties she has faced. some of them are old -- crime, problems with our schools. some of them are new and not necessarily expected like the loss of redevelopment funds, and occupy oakland. and she has had successes. she brought a great new administrative team to this city with our city administrator, under fire chief, the police chief, and developing really strong leadership for our city. she has also made some mistakes, and she has had the courage to acknowledge them, which is not easy for any of us. i know it is not for me, and she gets credit for that. the solutions to occupy oakland are not easy, and none of us can spell them out, but i do think that all of us, whatever we think about the occupied -- o

been talking to oakland police this morning and a lot of detectives still here at the oakland police department working this morning. trying to get to the bottom of all of these cases. about 24 hours it started after 3:00 yesterday morning with a person suffering minor injuries after a shooting on 25th avenue and east tenth. the victim was extremely lucky but that was just the beginning. just before 10:00 there was another shooting. this one on 89th and d-street. in that case it was a drive by shooting and an adult man was killed after a car with three males and one female drove by and opened fire. we are also told another victim was heard we are not sure of his condition. around 6:15 last night more shots. this time on the 1200 block of 72nd avenue. an adult man was shot by two adults driving by. he survived that shooting. police told ktvu he was shot in the stomach. and then another killing just before 8:45 last night. this one on the 800 block of 26th street. the victim shot multiple times after a hail of bullet there is. the suspect was seen running from that scene. again a littl
