jose force helped catch three suspected bank robbers in san jose. on tuesday, the off-duty police officer pulled into a wells fargo parking lot had he saw three men run inside wearing masks. when they left the bank, he followed them and gave investigators information that led to their arrest. he had left the san jose police department in july after receiving a lay-off notice. he had taken a job, but the same day, he helped nabbed the robbers, he was rehired in san jose. >>> a group of bar owners is threatening a lawsuit over a city ordnance. there's been a sharp up tick in downtown walnut creek. some of them turning into melees that spill onto the streets. the ordnance would allow walnut creek to reduce hours of operations at problem bars. >> the establishment owners have the fear that it could lead to dramatically restrictive regulations which in the long run may curtail their business. >> walnut creek mayor says it's premature to threaten a lawsuit. >>> well the count down is on, just less than 25 hours from right now, they plan to begin the closu

story out of san jose this morning. firefighters are mopping up after flames left several people homeless. gil diaz is live on scene with new home video. >> reporter: good morning. this fire occurred on denise way. it happened just before 3:00 and took firefighters about an hour to get it under control. take a look at this cell phone video. he took it on his way to the fire. as you can see, the flames are shooting at least at 15 to 20 feet into the air. this is a duplex and by the time the first fire crews arrived you can tell the duplex was fully engulfed. the chief tells us that one of the challenges his crews had was fighting it because it was so windy out here. now, the smoke columns are not going straight up. the smoke columns are rising until a slanty direction so right now, four people are displaced this morning. as we take live look at denise way, you can see that it looks like a complete loss. no injuries. the firefighters are all okay. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. >>> the napa register r

. >>> a murder mystery in a san jose neighborhood. the victim watt found outside an apartment come complex on blackford avenue on the west side. this is the city's third homicide of the year. good morning, lisa. >> reporter: good morning, frank. that's right. it has been eight hours since san jose police got the initial call of the shooting and officers are still 0 here on the scene. when we arrived at 4:00 this morning, we could see the officers getting some evidence from the side parking lot of the strip mall. however, the victim was actually found in a back parking lot of the apartment complex. that you're seeing now. and the 4300 block of blackford avenue. and when the officers arrived, they did find that 21-year-old man who had been shot. he was later pronounced dead. at the santa clara valley medical center. and now, earlier, san jose police told us they didn't have a suspect in this case. nor a motive. also, they haven't released the victim's name yet because they want to wait until they notify the family. they are asking anyon
