i talked to everyone who was with lyndon johnson in the hospital still alive, in boston with lyndon johnson. congressman jack brooks. lyndon johnson's devoted secretary, kennedy's secretary, they're always seemed to be other sources that have been overlooked. when i was doing this suddenly i came across a fact. a secret service regulations that if you were a member of the presidential or vice-presidential detail and there was an incident involving the president or vice president or the assassination was an incident, if there was an incident you had to at the first available opportunity type up a report with every detail you remember as chief of the secret service. i asked the secret service -- never got a reply but in the johnson library, forty-four million documents and i went to the chief archivist and said the there exist in this library those secret service reports and she said yes. and suddenly delivered to my desk 23 secret service men in that motorcade and also were involved in dallas that day. also a reports and they were bound in a volume that is called not a formal volume but a ca

johnson. i'd like to show you just a page or two of the police report, just to confirm that. if you can see here, officer revis transported and booked johnson into the main jail for 594a3b vandalism and for 23103a reckless driving. and the report is kind of long so i'll go to another page of the charges. basically mr. johnson, he was actually filmed on video, for reckless driving and he deliberately swerved side to side, causing the vehicle to roll over and he was booked into the main jail and these are his charges, 594a vandalism over 5,000. the other thing that kind of disturbs me about that is that was a 16,000 pound vehicle -- truck. let me go on. so basically mr. johnson failed to appear for numerous hearings after i called him and told him that he would have some municipal code violations. only after a letter on may 10, informing mr. johnson that he needed to appear or his application would not be processed, he did appear. i informed him at that time he was in violation of the municipal

i kind of felt sorry for johnson. i detested the war in iraq, but i thought that johnson had done a great job on domestic issues. he got through two landmark civil rights proposals, the public accommodations act and the boting rights act of 1964- 65. no other politician could have gotten those bills through congress. he practically twisted off the arms of southern senators to get the support out of them said that they could pass that bill. when he signed it into law, he turned to some of us who have been supportive of the law, he said, folks, there goes tht e south for the next 100 years. he was right. the solid south for the democrats became the solid south for the republicans. >> he said that during the signing ceremony? >> yeah, gentlemen, there goes the south. i had forgotten whether he set the next 50 years or the next 100. johnson knew the south better than any of us and what it took to run for office there. when i saw him resigning from running for reelection, the guy that ran earlier, i knew his heart was not

johnson. he was a big guy. he was a fitness guru. my assignment was to sit back and have my team do well. being in the marine corps, you don't have much option but to follow orders. they said that they were going to pronounce themselves from the taliban. this is how i believe that we won the war. i believe that by that, stopping the taliban movement, we won the war to stop terrorism. so that is what we are trying to do. it didn't take me long to realize that i have been in quite a few fights. you try to figure out that the training to start kicking in and you start doing your job after about 10 or 15 minutes. one thing after another, and everything starts to fall like a house of cards. everything that we relied on was not happening. everything was quickly falling like a house of cards. we needed to get our stuff together and take advantage of it. chavez was sitting in a vehicle and we figured out that we had to do something. we cannot just sit back and watch anymore. each time we were told no.
