you have lawrence and garner sitting there. according to lawrence when the police came in. he was sitting on the couch and garner was back in a kitchen area, which was visible from the front door out the back of the dining room table as much as fifteen feet apart. they were not having sex. they never had sex. the police burst in and start questioning them about who has a gun, and for them, it comes out of nowhere. he reacted to quite angerly. he had been drinking a bit. he acknowledged that. he was engaged in the form of civil disobedience, and as i said in an interview it was about six months before he died, he told me about what had happened and said the police had told bald face lies about the men having sex. he was upset about it. that's part of what drove him and i think garner, the part what drove them to challenge the arrest which they ultimately decided to do after, you know, some persuasion efforts. >> host: yes. the story gets more interesting as it goes along. it's the case, isn't it, that john lawrence and garner preference was to say, plead not guilty and say i

situation of impartial justice but not until everybody joins and participates ok lawrence if i go to you i mean a lot of people are calling it the african criminal court yes that's right and again these want to some of the issues that the court confronts i mean on the other hand we should be clear that the african nations themselves were supporters of the court now obviously we've seen some tensions emerge between the african union and the international criminal court the african union has argued that justice actually can be in impediment to some type of peaceful resolution. we've seen members of the african union urged the i.c.c. to dismiss charges against omar bashir the president of sudan but the fact that the african nation is that a tension has emerged and doesn't necessarily impugn the quality of the justice. that the i.c.c. is dispensing what i think it does it redoubles the necessity for the i.c.c. to emerge as a court which deals with. human rights abuses in war crimes in theatres all over the world not simply those in africa with the footprints there you see it moving in th

lawrence, what's the latest? >> it's now beginning to move further south. you can see high-def doppler radar rainfall making its way into san francisco. the heaviest rainfall falling so far in the north bay some places over 4" of rain in the north bay alone. still if you are traveling in that direction, some heavy rainfall through san rafael up toward petaluma along the 101. this is going to be a very stormy day around the bay area, just a slow-moving storm system. so it's going to dutch a whole lot of -- dump a whole lot of rain. cloudy, windy wet the better part of the day. could see wind gusts upwards of 50 miles per hour at the beaches. that rain and wind will continue today but this really is just opening the door now a series of storms lining up off the coastline still haven't developed but they will be pushing onshore. delays at sfo on arriving flights 4 hours. what a mess that's going to be. across the country of course we have a storm on the eastern seaboard. that will cause some delays. you're seeing delays in new york now, 58 degrees there, mostl

the dr requester is lawrence rambling who owns the adjacent property to the west. he included a petition that includes 38 names of people in opposition to the project. his concerns include the project's affects on the privacy of adjacent properties and project's intrusion into the mid-block and open space and potential negative effects on light and scale. since the commission packets were distributed last week, the department has received communication from two additional people in opposition to the project, copies of which i will pass to the commission for the record. the project was reviewed by the residential design team, which found it to be consistent with the establishment block open space pattern founded to be appropriate in height and scale and found that the project would not create significant affects to the dr questioners light air and livecy. in summary the project does not contain or create exceptional or extraordinary circumstances and the department recommends that the commission approve the project as proposed. that concludes my presentation. >> tha
