besser is standing by, but first, abc's martha raddatz in washington. and martha, this is a lot worse than many thought. >> reporter: it sure seems to be, david. we waited 24 hours for detail about this clot, but now, for the first time, we know the clot is not inclinton's leg, it is in a vein next to her brain. tonight, the normally globetrotting secretary of state is in a hospital room, monitored closely and being given blood thinners to break up the clot. family members including daughter chelsea have been at her side. the clot was discovered on an mrio sunday. a statement from her doctors tonight, saying, "the scan revealed a clot in the vein that is situated in the space between the brain and the skull behind the right ear." the statement says the secretary did not suffer a stroke or any neurological damage. but this is clearly a serious setback. it was december 7th when the secretary was last seen in public, during an overseas tour where she picked up a bad stomach virus. days later, still ill, the secretary fainted and got that nasty concussion.

martha? >> reporter: diane, this was a pretty serious concussion, although she is starting to feel better. chef was home sick if a stomach virus after a long trip overseas. she apparently was so dehydrated she fainted and when that happened, you obviously don't brace yourself for the fall, so, she hit her head hard. chef was not taken to the hospital, but when she exhibited many of the signs of concussion, dizziness, headache, she was given all the appropriate tests to rule out anything more serious. i am told she was on an iv drip for a period of time and had someone looking after her for those first few days. also told the secretary is frustrated by this and would love to get back to work, but when you get a concussion, you need to rest your brain. she will also be unable to testify about benghazi this week, although she will likely do that at some point in the future. but for now, diane, it is all about resting. >> well, quite an incident. and this is a long time for recovery. thank you so

there's currently a missing ingredient in the martha stewart empire -- a ceo. the ceo of martha stewart living omnimedia -- lisa gersh -- is leaving the company after just one year. the company is now looking for a replacement. other branches of the company including its publishing and broadcasting units have experienced recent declines. pfizer is cutting jobs in order to cope with losses from its popular drug lipitor. bloomberg reports the pharmaceutical company will cut fs over broll 20 percent of its workforce -- or around 600 sales jobs. pfizer's lipitor has seen an increase in competition within the generic drug market. a spokesperson for pfizer did not confirm the report --but did say the company is making changes to fit the future needs of business. facebook gave investors something to "like" in 2012.. despite it's botched ipo day. because it was a heavy hitter.. ipo values this year, topped last year. with $40 billion dollars in 2012 ipo money compared to $35.5 billion in 2011. 138 companies made it onto the market so far compared with 134 in 2011. ipo
