i just wanted to comment that i agree with mr. brooks that the onslaught of opposition that this campaign probably has to deal with will be very severe and i think certainly -- there is the ledgeally ballot in the bay and prop eight and there were ballots in the bay never counted and all of that and who knows? it could be true obviously. there is a website "change.org" and misinformed about shell oil and it's connection to this program and maybe it's not completely misinformed but certainly under lying there is no mention of clean power and how we have no currently and relying completely i will say hard energy sources and fossil fuels and that sort of thing, and even in my own personal campaign there was a hit piece that came out about how i was in bed with shell oil and nigeria and active vifts there and we know that is true and disappearing and what not and i don't think we should under estimate the type of political quagmire that this program will find itself in and the attacks are unwarranted and misinforming and certainly i'm

brook, for five minutes. mr. brooks: mr. speaker, the bush tax cuts history illuminates why american families face huge tax increases on january 1. the bush tax cuts had two purposes, first, stimulate the economy, create jobs, cut unemployment, and cut the deficit. second, cut taxes to help american families take care of their own needs. in just three years thanks to the bush tax cuts unemployment dropped from a high of 6.3% in 2003 to a low of 4.4% in 2006. seven million american jobs were created between 2003 and 2006. most importantly and paradoxically to those who do not understand economics, this robust economic growth cut america's deficit 60% from $413 billion in f.y. 2003-2004, to $161 billion in f.y. 2006-2007. by every economic measure the bush tax cuts were a spectacular success. the bush tax cuts part one became law in 2001. republican congressmen and senators voted 258-2, 99%, to cut taxes and protect family incomes. in contrast, democrat congressmen and senators who now say they are for protecting family income

i want to spin on mrs. hale's update on cleanpowersf. talking about the briefing that local power will give on january 22 about their work on the local build down. i think you have heard in the past hearings that i and others have said what they have developed in a financial model to get the entire power that advocates are asking for. and putting out in the same price by pg & e and by the locals in the first years of the program. but however the exciting new news in the latest stakeholder meeting between local power and sfsgu and advocates. local power after heard from a lot of us, and after saying, listen, what you are putting together is good. but we have an issue that commissioner caen raised, pg & e is going to roll out their green program at a $6 premium. and it's lower than the 10-20. and hearing the comments from us and staff, local power developed a new model based on its previous models. that model will use renewable energy credits at the same level they are used in morion county. and something that environmentalists weren't thr
