why sass scratch hunters >> ama: good evening. i'm ama daetz. at least 230 people died in a nightclub near brazil and at least 200 more were injured. for some it brings back memories to a similar tragedy here in the u.s. a decade ago. here's the latest. reporter: you're looking at the desperate effort to save lives as a saturday night party turned into a national tragedy at the club in southern brazil. young men swung axes axes and sledgehammers, trying to hack out escape outs with hundreds fighting for their lives. the club, was packed with college party-goers when members of the band on stage lit flares and set the ceiling on fire. flames and smoke outraced the terrified crowd which jammed the exits in a mad dash to escape. the club became a death trap. one survivor said it was complete panic. hundreds were killed. most reportedly from asphyxiation. firefighters and ambulance crews did what they could, treating some of the more than 200 injured at the scene. others were taken to the hospital. >> by daylight, grief-stricken crowds gathered outs

>> ama: san francisco police are looking for a man who is accused of setting a woman on fire. that happened just after noon in the bayview district. sergio quintana has been following the story and joins us live with what happened. reporter: witnesses who saw what happened describe a gruesome attack. they say a man lit a woman on fire a half block down the street. she then ran about another block that way, trying to get home for help. >> a smoldering sweater in the middle of the street is what 25-year-old star lamar was wearing when her family says her boyfriend, 22-year-old detects ter oliver, doused her with gasoline and then lit her on fire. he sister says she is in critical condition at st. francis hospital. >> they had dead skin, and auntie hasn't win to see her yet. they said she's doing fine. >> according to the family, the couple began yelling at each other at the laundromat down the street. at one point the argument go so heated he allegedly ran home to get some gasoline, then ran back towards the laundromat. >> i saw him pour gasoline some a bottle, and he left. i di

on i'm ama daetz. developing news from east oakland where police are investigating a shooting that left two people wounded. police were called around about 5:30 after residents called about gunshots. one person was shot at that location. authorities were also called out to secretary of defense shooting location less than a mile away near i-580. they found a vehicle that collided into a pole. driver's side window was shot out and another person was struck by gunfire. both shooting victims took themselves to the hospital. there is no word on conditions or if any suspects have been arrested. >> the father of a petaluma girl found dead in south lake tahoe he now understands the pain that families go through. she was found dead yesterday. her family hosted a fund-raiser to bring support for families forced to deal with missing and exploited children. nick smith was there. >> melissa touched the hearts of so many people. >> evidence of that can be seen here at beyond the glory in petaluma. they will donate 1
