good evening i'm ken wayne. >> i'm jana katsuyama in tonight for heather holmes. >> we begin with developing news, covering two shootings on the peninsula that happened within a few miles of each other. the first shooting involved a mother and her child, but we begin in east palo alto where ktvu's jade hernandez has late- breaking details about the shooting there. >> reporter: investigators will have to determine if the first shooting in menlo park a few hours ago is tied to the recent shooting in east palo alto. you can see police officers are capital blocked off here. the most disturbing part is a young child was shot in the first shooting and police are investigating whether these are gang-related. we saw a woman, we believe it was the injured woman from the first shooting get into a police car. she and her 2-year-old son were taken to the hospital, where they remain tonight. she was setting in the back of car in menlo park. a bullet pierced the window and grazed the toddler silting on the mother's lap in the backseat. the driver's side had two bullet holes in the door. menlo park tell us

. >> i'm ken wayne. >>> in the east bay, a shooting at the bayfair b.a.r.t. station has left one person dead and another one injured. alley rasmus there and she's talked to witnesses and how this affecting service. >> reporter: the station is closed. it's been closed since 1:00. we've seen train after train pass through the station without stopping. there's crime scene tape on the b.a.r.t. platform and there's tape blocking just about every entrance on the ground level. this is all because of a fatal shooting that happened around 12:30 this afternoon. it happened in the bus zone. that parked ac transit bus you are looking at, five seats next to it is where the victim of the fatal shooting was found. a 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. a woman was injured. she went to the hospital. her life injuries -- her injuries are not life- threatening. witnesses, including several people at a nearby taxi stand, told us they heard several shots fired, then saw a crowd of people at the bus stop disperse. >> shots. like two slowly and the others more quickly

. >>> geek i'm ken wayne. >> hello everyone i'm heather holmes. we begin with that developing news in san josi. a woman crashed her car into a pond and just minutes ago we learned that despite efforts to rescue her underwater she died. kutv's debora villalon is live at the scene right off the almaden expressway. >> reporter: heather this happened before 3:00 and it's still a developing situation, because no one can be absolutely sure yet if the woman driving that gray car that you see over there was the only victim. she was pulled lifeless from her vehicle, submerged in about 15' of water. she had been under about 40 minutes and paramedics tried to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at a local hospital. this was a single-car accident and no explanation for. it the driver was coming out of the al plaiden plaza mall when witnesses say instead of turning, she drove straight across the intersection at high- speed, jumped a curb, went through a fence and launched into the pond. the first fire crews were not divers, but they did what they could. >>
