we want to begin in southern california. people are on edge as this police officer is on the run. 33-year-old christopher jordan dorner. he is wanted for a string of shootings. i want to you look at the description including the vehicle he has been driving around southern california in. here's the thing we heard from the police chief in los angeles. he calls this a vendetta. we are told he wants revenge and had the vendetta against all police. not just lapd, but southern california in general. police are racing to find him before he hits again. doerner is accused of shooting three officers, killing one this morning. police believe he also killed monica quan, the daughter of the captain and killing her fiance over the weekend. to the police officers involved, the riverside officers were cowardly ambushed. they had no opportunity to fight back and no prewarning. imagine going about your work day and having to learn about that threat. >> dorner is a highly skilled marksman considered armed and extremely dangerous. here's a time

and meanwhile, here in southern california, it's been a somber day. today the quiet work of recovery begins as the first of the memorial services for murdered officers gets underway. michael crane was honored by officers from all around southern california, they lined up at the grove community church today. some like a firefighter with a personal connection to the murdered officer. he answered the call after the shooting. >> reporter: when did you find when you got there? >> a bullet ridden vehicle with two officers that were shot. the driver, he was shot, but still alive at that time. crane was unconscious. >> reporter: and people from across southern california poured into the riverside service and many with connections to this shooting spree. >> my daughter knew the young woman. the first victim. and just my way of coming back just to pay my respects. >> reporter: did you make up the sign? >> yes. >> reporter: your words? >> yes. >> reporter: what moved you to do this? >> to show his family that we still care for him, even if he's not right with us

keith lawrence is reportedly a service officer in southern california and it is believed doerner wrote a lengthy manifesto online of why he shot both victims and what he would do to lapd police officers. he was fired some time ago but he blames randy for being terminated. this is believed to be his last known address and this is in riverside county believed to be the corona area. when police officers drove up he opened fire and one lapd officer was killed and another one is in surgery in critical condition after receiving a graze wound. it should be known doerner served in afghanistan and he is a sniper and some of his manifesto is graphic. he plans on doing, a symmetrical warfare and lapd police officer are on high alert and those specific officers who are targeted as well as the police chief are under guarded protection. we will have more information as it becomes available inside the ktvu channel 2 morning news room. >>> we are following information into an early morning house fire. a traffic camera took pictures of the fire just moments after it started. here is more from the rose
