over half the district is women in south carolina. i have to tell you, you have a lot of women down there, republican women who look at mark sanford and think he's a piece of -- well, i just won't say the word. it's not polite to say so. there is an opening here for colbert-bush. what most people don't know about her is she actually gave him money when she ran for governor. imagine if she gets up in the debate and says, mark, i gave you money and you violated my faith and my trust and you violated your wife's trust and the women of south carolina. and that could hit home very heavily with women in the first district. >> it's interesting that you're going to link those -- what her losing faith in him and jenny losing faith in him. and i think this is an example of karl rove being right that a lot of time gop primary voters cannot pick good candidates. but i'm also curious for you to speak to what this says or the message we should take about the culture of south carolina which we think of as a very conservative state saying, okay, the

voters in south carolina go to the polls next tuesday. looking ahead to the last few days of the campaign, colbert busch topped him in latest round of fundraising by nearly a half million dollars. sanford still has more cash on hand for the final week of the race, topping colbert busch by nearly $30,000. nationally, republicans have avoided sanford like that hiking trip, he will be joined by south carolina governor nikki haley at a fund-raiser wednesday. joining me, nia malika-henderson and dick harpootlian, chairman of the south carolina democratic party. dick, i want to go to you first. nancy pelosi references were flying on the stage tonight. mark sanford really making attempt to tie colbert busch to nancy pelosi and unions and national democrats. she repeatedly pushed back. let's take a listen. >> first of all, i want to be very clear, mark, nobody tells me what to do except the people of south carolina's first district. if you have been looking at the commercials, i am fiscally conservative, independent, tough business woman. if you

the largest ethics fine in south carolina history. but there you have him trying to explain where he is and where he wants to go. i think he benefits from the fact he was never someone that led social conservative issues, was a box checker, was more leaning forward in terms of fiscal issues, and that's what he led with. so i think if he actually wins this race, we're going to see somebody that makes some noise on the hill, who might challenge either tim scott or lindsey graham in 2014. people don't love lindsey gram down there, see him as a rhino. tim scott has not been setting the world on fire as a senator, so far, but also people think it would be more likely should he win this race, he is more likely looking at the governor's race in 2018. >> at this hour tomorrow night, we should probably know who the republican candidate will be. and in the last poll we've seen, mark sanford is leading curtis bostic 53-40%. and ana marie, i am not sure anything happened to change that around for bostic. >> no, i don't think it did. mark sanford

did you think differently in south carolina? >> i did. i don't think she would it i think it was a draw. let's talk style. you can't necessarily win an election by one debate. you can sure lose one. she did fine. i thought she delivered lines fairly well, she was a little bit clunky. it was obvious she wasn't as well rehearsed as mark sanford, but he's been a governor and a congressman. he should have won and he should have won much more decisively. i don't think he did that i don't think he made any major missteps, either. the fact of the matter is she missed huge opportunities to take apart mark sanford's professional record. forget his personal one. we consistently lost jobs under mark sanford. not to mention the fact that our port that was second in the world when he took over, i think fell to 12th under his leadership because he refused to do anything about dredging down there. not to mention he was a road block for boeing. so there was some issue she's really could have tackle and hit him with that made him appear a whole lot more p
