jeff miller and carla have been committed partners on this project. the planning process for landscape improvements and temporary art installations at kiva triangle wrapped up in may with the third and final community meeting held jointly by rec/park jeff miller of parks alliance and the friends group. at that meeting jeff presented the final plan for landscape enhancements which included [speaker not understood], stabilize access entrance and [speaker not understood] such as the kiosk and possibly log benches. at this meeting sam bower presented the plan for temporary nature based art installations. so, like i said, jeff miller is with us today to walk you through the conceptual plan. as he wraps up his presentation, i will then show you the conceptual ideas for the art part of this project and give you a brief summary on the m-o-u. so, let me just load the presentation. >> hello, commissioners. i'm jeffery miller, miller landscape architects. it's been a real pleasure to work with the friends of kiza and the members of this project. we're happy to b

[cheering and applauding] >> okay. and carina bonamo who was -- this incredible playground in the most beautiful park in san francisco, we've already heard that online. it is now officially the most beautiful park in san francisco. [cheering and applauding] >> with the most amazing playground. and this was a dream that carina had. she moved it from a dream. there were splinters in this little wood playground that we had, and carina got a group together, did this in the most democratic way possible, and just has done a fabulous job. thank god. i hope you have many more projects ahead of you. >> thanks, lynn. and i just want to make sure that everyone knows this is not my thing, it was a big group of us. dee-dee cramer and stacey scott and ann simon and debby kay were with me the whole time. we got together. and sam, thank you, jeff miller as well. with that, entertain a motion. >> well, aside from the comment that our general manager is energetic, i would move this forward for approval. and i felt the president's remarks and thank the crane foundation and all those who are involved on this exciting project. >> i second that, commissioner. >> point of clarification before we -- >> sure. >> before we move on this item. i just wanted to have a clearer understanding of the design elements for this project. so, all of these pictures in here that are renderings in here, are all of these -- >> commissioner, clearly speak -- >> yes. first of all, are the design elements finalized or you're still working on refining these? and the other question is the design elements that i see in here, are they already -- i mean, is it set in stone that they will be part of this triangle? just want to get clarification on this. >> well, we have had three public meetings in light of input from the public. so, the location of the path is very well final

but it's also people like jeff miller who contributed all of the architectural services for this gem pro bono. [cheering and applauding] >> but it's also the passion of our elected officials on the state and local level who you're going to hear from in a little bit including senator leno, assemblyman phil king, our mayor. (applause) >> our recreation and park commissioners megan levitt son is here. our district 2 supervisor mark farrell. . >> and, you know, hats off to representative jeff miller who is the head of the house committee on veterans affairs. he's doing everything he can to get this resolved but you need to have people on the administration side that's working with him, as well. >> my hat goes off to the private organizations trying to pick up the slack that the government is not like samaritan's purse. it's -- we ask so much of our military families and the least we can do is when people come back broken that we could at least try to do our best and not put them at the end of some long line. >> when i first came in, we were promised if you served a full career in the united states military, you'd be taken care of as far as your health benefits and your family, as well. so we're surely breaking that promise. >> these aren't little injuries. with the ieds and amazing things the medics do on the battlefield they're sending people home that wouldn't necessarily have been sent home. >> years ago, people would have been dying on the battlefield. congressman, thanks, sir. >>> now for tonight's hot button issue

jeff gardere, a psychologist, who can help us ferret through some of this very difficult testimony. on the stand right now is dr. gerald maloney, he was the e.r. doctor at the cleveland hospital. of course, these three victims were brought to that hospital for treatment after they were rescued from the house of horrors. let's listen to his testimony. >> yes, they had forensic exams done by sexual assault nurse examiner. >> and when you say "they", are you referring to all four patients? >> all three patients, minor child did not. >> what would you say you observed, if anything, about their general demeanor? i know you explained michelle knight. what about the other two? >> the other two were also distraught. again, they were distraught. and also elation they were free now after years of captivity. they were distraught, they were cheerful and they were very much emotionally fragile at the time they arrived. >> and were you given information about a period of prolonged activity. was there any sort of documentation that you made of them, in addition to their gaunt appearance, that woul
