and cal fire did some new mapping on the edge of this fire. and they now are putting the burn area about 3200 acres. that's actually down from yesterday. so the size from this fire is down. later on today a short time from now, a new contingent of firefighters will be heading out trying to build up containment lines as they have been doing throughout the night. there was a bit of a scare that happened last night on the eastern edge of this fire. the fire flared up because of sudden strong winds and the flames threatened to jump a containment line. crews were able to fight back the flames and the fire wasn't allowed to cross over morgan territory road. quite a few homes and ranches on the other side of the road. some people who were ordered to evacuate had stayed behind there. this flare up shows the fire is a real threat and firefighters have a difficult job in front of them. >> to improve containment line, we start mop up. gives us more space between the area that's burned and the area that hasn't burned. >> reporter: the morgan fire broke ou

the cal train service is back up and running. we saw that 5:15 train go by southbound, first one this morning. 8:15 last night a construction crew working on a project for cal train hit a two-inch gas line. pg&e says there were no evacuations because the line was venting as it was supposed to do. you can still smell it a little bit. 3 to 4 miles away from the site of that deadly gas line pipe explosion in 2010. certainly rattled serves there. pg&e says this line was clearly marked and here's what they plan to do moving forward. >> we've been coordinating pretty closely. we do have pg&e gas representative here at all times when work is on going, we're able to respond quickly last night when they hit it but we'll continue to make sure we work with them so they know the location of the utility lines. >> reporter: this work is part of a $155 million plan to elevate the tracks above three streets here in san bruno for traffic safety. caltrain saying it's too soon to say if this project will be delayed by what happened here but work ce

crews are building elevated cal train tracks. the busted line is just beyond the orange barriers we are showing you right now. that was lined with spewing natural gas for five hours over night. just after 8:00 last night, workers with the private construction company ruptured that under ground gas main. there were no evacuations ordered and no one was hurt but the leak probably made a lot of people nervous because it did happen three miles away from the deadly san bruno pipeline explosion back in 2010. and because of the proximity to the train tracks cal train had to be stopped as well. passengers were put on buses. and finally at 1:00 this morning pg&e crews were able to cap that leak. the rupture pipeline is being repaired. i'm not exactly sure how long it will take. even if that repair works, we understand the work will two on. and cal train service will resume as normal later this morning. live in san bruno alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. >>> the oakland a's are headed to the playoffs. in case you missed all of it, the a's
