abc7 news reporter katie marzullo is on the scene. >> it is worse than originally reported. three went people to the hospital. it is a dangerous scene that plaid out this morning in san jose. the lincoln town car is the car that started this, came speeding down this road and hit a large truck carrying other cars and the accident wiped out the water main and you can see this is at the elementary school completely ruining, curbing that truck. you can see the tow truck taking the link cop continent away. we can roll video of scene, it was 3:00 am and there were three people in the car and after the crash, two of the people ran off, one into the neighborhood and one into nearby bushes at the school but police were able to capture all these of the people and all throw of them were hurt and all three have been taken to the hospital. as for water at the elementary school, the water main because it was crushed in the accident has been broken and water is shut off so the school does not have water. it is early so we did not know if it can be restored in time for school to open. a sch

>> owe reporter, katie marzullo, that is happening? >> matt and kristen, we are standing on the front lawn of the elementary school and when you look from the lawn to the front you can see the busted water main. what is happening now is crews have been on the scene and assessed the damage. you can see it is totally busted. i have new information how long it will take to repair but i want to get to that if a second. this video will show you what led up to all of this. a large truck, a car mover, was turning around in the parking lot of the school and a lincoln town car according to the truck driver came speeding down the road and smashed into it and the accident ended up leveling the water main here. three people remain in the car, two of them actually took off and tried to eleven the scene on foot, and one ran into the northbound by neighbor and another ran into the bushes. police ultimately found the two and had all three together and took all three to the hospital with injuries. as for the mess left here, a toreman with the unified s

abc7 news reporter katie marzullo has the details. >> the fire is out. the fire department confirms one person was killed in the fire. you can see what is left of what is described as a travel trailer beyond the fence line. this is a mobile home community, a one-trailer damage. they cannot confirm the gender or identity of the victim. a neighbor tells me it was a woman, a disabled woman and someone no one in the trailer park had met. the 9-1-1 calls came in after 3:30. the fire department was on the scene five minutes later but the trailer was engulfed. neighbors say they tried to break open the windows. they heard the woman's voice, asking if she was okay and the fire department said she was probably dead in the first few minutes of the fire. no other trailers damaged or homes damaged in the area. police working to find the victim if it is a woman. the victim's relatives, as well, to five them she has died in the fire. the police department is working on that angle. >> we want to check on the weather forecast. today there are more clouds in the mix, rig

abc7 news reporter katie marzullo is in burlingame to tell us what this means for employees and business owners. >> kristen, workers are happy and employers probably nervous but nothing is happening yet. the governor still has to sign this into law. he says he will. assuming that happens, you are look at a couple of years before this takes affect. the minimum wage in california now is $8 and next july it would go up to $9 and in 2016 it would become $10 an hour. law harris counties and workers are looking forward to it the first increase since 2008. >> lot of people think minimum wage earners are teens. over 90 percent in california are over the age of 20. >> if it is $10, that would be great for me. i am all for it. >> this will cost employers more money. it is an ex-expense -- an expense to them and they can pass the cost to customers. the chamber of commerce and the state restaurant association oppose the increase in the minimum wage. currently, the state with the highest minimum wage in the country is washington state. the minimum wage there is $9.19. california would surpass that. t

abc7 news reporter katie marzullo is on grand avenue. katie? >> you can see the charred remains of what has been called a travel trailer inside a trailer park. authorities have not confirmed the identities or the genders of the two people killed inside this fire. neighbor say it was a husband and wife. >> the alameda coroner had the task of remove not one but two bodies from a travel travel in san lenadro. the fire broke out at 3:30 in the morning. officials only confirming this was a second victim hours later. >> the shelving material fell and collapses on the person, the second only -- occupant. >> the chief says not only was there a lot of "stuff" in the trailer but the walls fell, too. neighbors knew there was at least one person trapped in the flames. they say she lived long enough to call out. >> i said, are you okay, and she said "no, i'm not okay." >> the woman was elderly and disabled. the neighbors busted in the trailer trying to save her. >> it was locked. i knocked a section out of the door with a crowbar and pulled it open but...it

abc7 news reporter katie marzullo has more. >> police in rhode island say they encountered aaron alexis early august and he told them voices were harassing and following him and the following week he moved to washington, dc, for work. law enforcement say he was treated for serious mental problems but the security clearance was not stripped. overnight, law enforcement sources have told abc7 news that he sought help from v.a. hospitals and rhode island for insomnia. president obama ordered the budget office to examine security standards for government contractors and employees across federal agencies. >> i am concerned this becomes a ritual every three or four months where we have horrific mass shootings but we are not willing to take bake actions we know can make a difference. >> f.b.i. behavior analysts are looking for his motive. mission essential personnel and the navy yard remains an active crime scene. >> we are learning more of the victims including a 51-year-old woman whose brother lives in livermore. mary knight was working as an information technology contractor on the 4th floor

abc7 news reporter katie marzullo will have more on the impact at the top of the hour. >> the state legislature approve add bill to let undocumented immigrants get california driver's licenses. the licenses will include a special mark that indicates the person is not allowed to vote or receive social services. the governor says he will sign the measure. immigrants have to pass a driving test and be insured. >> violent crime is rising in berkeley. the police department shows that robberies were up by 25 percent to 221 in the first half of the year. burglaries have jumped by 34 percent to 479 and there have been four homicides. the latest was sunday night when a man was shot to death and last year berkeley had five for the entire year. our media partner reports that the police union says more officers needed. the police chief is scheduled to prevent the report to the city council on tuesday. >> park worker who ran over a woman with a truck is apologizing. the 35-year-old christine svanemyr was killed at the park. police arrested thomas burnoski. through his attorney, burnoski said that "my action

abc7 news reporter katie marzullo has details. >> police found more guns at the suspect's house, what type, how many, and whether he legally owned the guns is yet-to-be-determined by the house is three blocks away from the crime scene in the ocean view neighborhood. police have arrested a 30-year-old man. investigators have been circulating this surveillance video from muni that helped lead them to their suspect. police say he shot and killed a san francisco state student justin valdez after he got off a light rail car on monday night around 10:00. police believe the killing was random and unprovoked. valdez was from southern california and his principal at the high school says this is unbelievable. >> for someone who lived his life as one of the strongest role models on campus, two have been killed...senselessly doesn't make sense. >> justin's school community is planning a vigil in his honor according to facebook, a memorial will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the student center. police have scheduled a news conference. we expect to learn more of the crime and the weapons police found insi

our reporter, katie marzullo, is monitoring the situation from the newsroom. >> it is moving in the right direction, the custer county emergency manager says the evacuation order has been lifted, and 12 people from four or five homes were forced to leave when the fire erupted and the laboratory is outside of the town of thomas in custer county an hour west of oklahoma city. firefighters have the fire contained and they are going to let it burn itself out but that could take hours. it is burning for ten hours and police say this were explosions a young man who lives near said it was awful. >> it is scary. i didn't enjoy what to do. i didn't know if we would have to leave town. my dad is not here we would not be able to do much. scary the no one was at laboratory and the remain employees are accounted for with no injuries reported. officials do not know the cause of the fire or explosion. another construction project could force the closure of a bay area bridge the golden gate bridge. we are on the scene with amy hollyfield. >> the bridge will be closing for a full weekend next year but off
