mark kelly joins us from the new path in oakland. is that path in our future? >> reporter: it turns out the idea of being able to bike between san francisco and oakland is in the works. the mtc has studied it, of course it would cost hundreds of millions of dollars. but many i spoke to today say, hey, they still like the idea. >> it is amazing to be on a bike on this new bridge. >> reporter: renee rivera sees momentum for bike paths picking up speed. she is executive director of the east bay bicycle coalition and this idea of installing a bike path all the way to san francisco has her jazzed. >> people are so excited about the new bridge. and then they immediately ask, when is it going to connect to san francisco? >> reporter: the when is still years away. at this point, this design exists attaching the bike path alongside the bridge's western span. walkers and bikers could use it and this is important, maintenance crews could use it too keeping them from shutting down traffic lanes when the bridge needs a touchup. sounds like a win-win. cars are less likely to

live in san mateo, mark kelly, kpix 5. >>> new details in the murder of 8-year-old alaysha carradine shot to death at a sleepover. police released a sketch of the person they believe is responsible. as kpix 5's da lin explains, this is the biggest lead in the case yet. >>> reporter: oakland police want people to take a good look at this sketch. the man whom they say killed 8- year-old alaysha carradine and wounded three others. investigators say he is black, 17 to 24 years old, about 5'7" and 160 pounds. they say he was wearing a black hooded jacket and bluejeans. >> he has what appears to be a very thin mustache. >> reporter: police say it's the biggest break in the case. and they need people to help them identify the suspect. >> this is a dangerous person. if they shoot children, what else would they do in our community? >> reporter: it happened in july when alaysha was sleeping over at her best friend's apartment at oakland's diamond districts. a gunman rang the doorbell and when the children answered the door, he fired shots through the door killing alaysha, injuring a 7-year-old
