and to visit the sutro library. >> the inscription on the pedestal of mayor sutro is quite, quite, something to read. it is almost like an inspiration and it tells you a great deal about this man's life. i have an incredibly fond memory of sutro, and it involves a blue and white bathing suit. and in a certain era of san francisco, people were required to rent a blue, and white bathing suit in order to swim in sutro baths. unfortunately they were a little itchy and scratchy and then you had to sit on a sutro mat and it has left an impression, and i think that i am still scratching. hopefully i will never stop scratching, but i will always remember fond childhood memories of sutro baths and of the man who created them. so thank you all very much for coming and visiting us in san francisco city hall. and remember that april 5th, of 1913, they turned the first mound of dirt to build this historic building. and in less than three years, the building was complete. and we opened our doors, december 28th. of 1915. so, hopefully you will all get involved in san francisco city hall centennial celebrat

this was heyman's land just south of sutro's. you could seat cars lined up waiting for buyers, essentially. in the background you have some of these novel seaside cottages. he left the cars exposed on purpose. it was a publicity thing. you might come out picnicing or walking along the great highway on the weekend and thought what the heck is that thing? you go over, buy a lot, $35 two cars, can't miss. this is that same view just a knew months later. we're talking about mid 1899 now. you can see the cars are all starting to be put to use in buildings. they'd come up with all of these different patterns. this car on the left is two cars end-to-end with a connecting vestibule. it's kind of an i pattern so you could have a cabin in one car, a compartment in one car. the other car might be your mother-in-law. and you could meet in the middle in that sorted of connecting section for breakfast. they did similar things. they'd put like four in a cross with a connecting part in the middle. and you could see these are not exactly a.d.a. a

from our sutro tower we have poor air quality out there. you can definitely see it from the cameras. with santa clara, the poorest of the air quality, but the inland east bay taking a hit as well. by 2:00 in the afternoon they hillary assess whether or not we will see another spare the air day tomorrow. as high pressure build had in from the north we will get the offshore flow and very little help from the marine layer. in fact, it will stay absent and that will allow for another warm evening tonight. we are looking for the heat to continue throughout the next several days in oakland. we will give uh glimpse of the next week or so and you notice with sunday and monday well into the 80s to near 90 it is not until tuesday and wednesday that the bay really gets a dose of that marine air. but we still should be a couple degrees shy of what we will experience today. our inland east bay, not so lucky with numbers near 100. you are going to stay sizzling hot right through the early part of the week and then finally dropping down into monday and tu
