the s&p drifting lower. tuesday, the s&p was 1703 so we're a little higher at 2:00 on wednesday when the fed announcement was made, but not much. by about ten points, as you can see here. what's going on? i want to comment quickly because people keep asking about market headwind we're facing and how serious are they. on the uncertainty in washington, my sense is this is a little overstated. a government shutdown, debt ceiling. i know there are issues. i think we'll probably get through them without a government shutdown or at least a short one. as for the taper, look, i'm as confused as everybody else, but the thing that i would note here is the range of actions are very narrow here. it's either no taper through the year or taper light. what i would do is try to follow the data and not the taper because it's making everybody crazy. there's my two cents on this. i want to remind you, we'll have a lot of fireworks at the close today. a couple of things are happening. there's going to be an s&p re-weighting. co
