but we are going to kick it off with lawrence karnow and this windy weather. lawrence. >> just walking out the door you can feel the winds and smell the smoke. the temperatures are very mild. we have those offshore winds kicking in. in fact our mount vaca cam you can see those winds whipping around. this is about 3,000 feet. so blustery winds across the tops of the mountains. you're looking at winds gusting to 54 miles per hour right now in the oakland hills, 36 in fairfield, 30 in napa and 26 miles per hour in livermore. red flag warnings are up above 1,000 feet across the bay area. we are seeing some very dry northeasterly winds with strong gusty winds and the humidity levels are very, very dry. so conditions are ripe for fires. we are going to get more on that with anne makovec in the north bay where they're already seeing a fire. anne. >> reporter: yeah. big fire near lake berryessa. and smoke was reported as people could smell it about 100 miles away. the winds have carried a lot of the smoke out of the area. i'm near the richmond/san rafael bridge. still

[ laughter ] >> it's been great the last couple of days. i think today another nice day a lot of sunshine coming our way a little cool again to start. we have the offshore winds blowing not too strongly but if you have to clear out your skies all the way to the coastline. and it looks like a little cool in some of the valleys early on today. but as we head throughout the day, going to see plenty of sun. stepping outside right now, we have clear skies into san francisco. looking good there. temperatures a little cold in the north bay valleys dropping down to the low 40s now in santa rosa. 52 in san jose. san francisco checking in at 56 degrees. but not going to be long. sun coming up after 7:00 and these temperatures going to be heating up nicely. 70s and 80s into the south bay. plenty of sunshine there. east bay temperatures up into the low 80s in many spots. and then as you head inside the bay you'll find those numbers as high as 77 degrees today in san francisco. 79 in oakland. and even 70s toward the beaches. all right. let's check your
