however, when house republicans made the defunding of obama care or even the delay of obama care their sticking point at which they would shut the government down if they didn't get it, didn't they basically make this result inevitable by making that what they took a stand on? >> well, i think you've kind of got it backwards. the house republicans said they would fund all of government, and they did. they funded all of government short of one program. so they really were never wanting to shut down government over this, they were wanting to fund government, and then have a debate -- >> they were trying to fund obama care more than 40 times. they know what the result will be. they live in the real world, too. they knew this action would lead tie shutdown, and it did. >> well, i think that when you look at legislation, when you say the president wants 100% of obama care or he will shut down the government, that's exactly what's happened. if he doesn't get 100% of his way, his way or the highway, then they won't do any spending bills that don't include everything that he wants. that's him

we support the shut down to defund obama care or delay obama care. >> look. i respect the sincerity of the opinion but sit suicide what. you're doing is shutting the government down. there is no end game. there isn't even a middle game here, you can't continue with the government shut down. it's going to be on the head of the republicans. instead of concentrating on what is going to happen, what really is happening with obama care focusing on that, if you pass a clean cr, if you fold on this as you're going to have to, then you pivot to where strength is. you can do the threat on the debt ceiling. polls have shown countries behind you. and the president will not allow that to happen. he was hungering for the government to be shut down. he was hoping he, it will. it's the opposite on the debt ceiling he's going have to negotiate on that. that is where you can win. >> more on the other side of the break. obama care comes on line in a few hours, we'll take a look at other problems some things still have to be worked out what. administration is hoping for, will p

obama care. nothing is perfect, especially something as big and important as a health care law like this, but we're not going to talk about changing it until after the debt ceiling is raised, until after the government is reopened. but it doesn't sound like republicans are entirely giving up, at least not in big ways to change it like defunding it or delaying it, but at least some issues around the edges, again, lots of talk about things like repealing the medical device tax which helps pay for obama care which a lot of democrats do not like. things like that. but unclear how that is going in these talks, because everybody, republicans and democrats who have been so vocal just 24 hours ago about their disdain for the process are now very quiet which is a good sign, because they think they're making progress. >> let's see if they are. we should know fairly soon. stand by. let's go to our senior white house correspondent, jim acosta, right now. you just came out of that briefing from jay carney. th

obama care is not ready for prime time. they are at the benefit of all of the people from twitter, facebook. do they refuse to hold themselves accountable to anything? >> i think the reality is if we don't have the government shut down issue that is in the media this last week if we didn't have th the story would have been launching obama care with all of the tech savviness were not able to do it. you mention the enforcement of obama care being handled the irs. anybody watching this broadcast with sensitive information they may or may not share it. the irs is free wielding with who they are sharing information with in fact violating their own rules and regulations and federal law. i think the reality is the answer is quite simple. obama care is falling on its own because it is not economically feasible. the reality is the irs has the mechanism to enforce it is not capable. between the enforcement issue and monetary aspects of it it just doesn't work. you have the union calling to stop it. everybody wants the exemptions. eve
