dr. ezekiel emanuel is one of the architects oft obamacare. gentlemen, welcome to "fox news sunday." let's start with that pledge from the president when he was trying to sell obamacare. here it is. >> we will keep this promise to the american people. if you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. period. if you like your health care plan, you'll be able to keep your health care plan. period. no one will take it away. >> it turns out millions of americans are not able to keep their plans. they're losing them. florida blue canceled 300,000 people. in california, 28 # 0,000 policies have been canceled. in oregon, 150,000. mr. capretta, the white house now says, its explanation is that pledge only counted until the health care law was signed in march of 2010 only for policies that were in effect before then. any way, these policies are lousy. >> there's two things. there was no extenuating circumstances when you said you can keep your plan. he didn't add a clause. in fact, he said clearly you can keep your plan. he said it once. h

the supporters, the architects like dr. emanuel are saying, look, you're going to get better care. have more coverage. things -- because part of the mandate and part of the reason people are being kicked off their policies is because insurance companies are being forced to increase the coverage. now, sometimes some of it seems a little crazy. you know, middle-aged senior women are bogue told they have to pay for maternity care and pediatric services for substance abuse policies. there's a question whether there's overkill here. meanwhile, you get people like jim capretta who are saying you're going to end up with a lot of things you're paying for that you don't need, and once we see this, there's going to be terrible sticker shock. premiums are not going to go down. they're going to go way up. we're having this discussion trootry to see what lays ahead. >> did you hear both sides of you can keep your doctor if you want to? >> watch the show. >> all right, good tease, chris. i'm in. thank you so much. great to see you this sunday morning. >> you bet, thank you, jamie. >>> do not mis

back with me now dr. ezekiel emanuel, speci emanuel. author of "brothers emmanuel," a memoir of an american family." his brother is the mayor of chicago. rahm emanuel was at one time president obama's chief of staff. your reaction to the latest numbers is what? >> i think they are dis appoia t disappointing. i think it's not that cop fusing since the website wasn't wor working. i'm not surprised. remember, we have four and a half months from today to get to the end of the open enrollment period. it's the end of the open enrollment period which is fine. this is like watching a tea kettle saying, is it boiling yet? that's not very helpful. >> it's concerning. let me show you the number. >> i have -- >> let me ask the question and you can answer. 5 million people have been cancelled already. >> that's not a reliable number. >> it's at least 3 million. >> not reliable. >> and the stats say 5 million. >> only on fox. >> let's go with 3 million. you can deny the problem, sir, but the data is out there. >> no. >> it's 5 million people tonight

kerrie emanuel, an expert in global warming and hurricanes and dr. ken cordera, what happens to the oceans when they're forced to absorb so much more carbon. >> this year global carbon emissions are supposed to hit a record 36 billion tons. china leads the way followed by the u.s., the european union and india. is there any way that those numbers can be turned around by replacing coal and other fossil fuels like wind and solar? >> well, it's very difficult, one of the most important statistics for people to realize is that in the '80s and '90, we -- global energy that was from clean sources sort of zero carbon sources went from 6% to 12% but it's been stalled out at 12% over the last 20 years, even with a big push on renewables by the european union and by the united states. what's happened is in are that 40 year period nuclear was the main thing taking us from 6 to 12%, and when nuclear stalled out at 12%, renewables didn't increase in the mix. the new wind and solar that have come online, have eaten away into hydroelectric dams and nuclear plants f
