so there's really a tragic day for the people of glasgow. around this hospital tonight, where i am, a real sort of somber mood. and that's the mood across the city. i've seen people just walking around in tears, as the news that eight people were dead confirmed. you have to remember, of course, the investigation is being led by police scotland, the major police force here in glasgow, and it was, of course, two police officers who were on board that helicopter that crashed into the pub that are now confirmed as two of the people who died. the number of people leading this investigation have lost in some cases, and in other places colleagues. so really tragic day for the people of glasgow here today, and of course we still don't know the full extent of this until that helicopter can be lifted out of the pub, at which doesn't look likely to happen today, more likely tomorrow as it's already late in the evening here in scotland. >> right. and becky, of course it's a somber mood there went from a celebration to just outright chaos. unfortunately,

it's quite common for the police helicopter on most days i'm told it is flying over glasgow, and it was on its approach pattern into the city heliport, which is about two miles up the river. so, we don't know why, but the -- but the eyewitnesss say it appears to have been the sound of a sputtering of engine. the rotors appeared to have stopped. and then the helicopter just fell out of the sky. there are other people who are suggesting that actually what was happening was that the pilot was trying to do a controlled, emergency landing on the roof of the building and got the helicopter on down, and then, of course, it crashed through the ceiling. it will be some time obviously before an investigation puts those details into perspective. for the moment, the way scotland is looking at this, rosa, the first minister of scotland described it as a black day for scotland and for glasgow. >> and that's our richard quest in scotland, and, of course, our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those people. >>> we move on now to alaska. the ntsb is investigating a plane crash last night that killed
