here now is kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks. i'll start with weekly jobless >>> fewer people are in line for unemployment benefits for the fifth week in a row. here's kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks. >> reporter: decent news an wall street. first time weekly unemployment claims fell by 2,000 to 339,000. the prior week was revised higher by 5,000. also the four-week average down by about 5700 to 344,000. couple of key economic reports out there as well as the earnings reports. cisco is a tech bellwether and unfortunately the san jose company provided results that missed expectations primarily on the revenue side even though it was up 2% from the year earlier to $12.1 billion. but cisco continues to deal with done strained corporate spending. also -- with constrained corporate spending also calling the political environment in china challenging so their shares are down by more than 12% this morning. another key for wall street is janet yellen, senate confirmation hearings beginning today. the federal reserve chair nom

first we go to kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks on what looks like a good start so far. >> reporter: i would say so. it was appropriate to see patrick stewart ringing the opening bill on the nys settlement. this morning for twitter. former "star trek" next generation actor doing so. the stock has been in warp drive since the beginning nearly doubling in value after starting out at $26 a share raising $1.8 billion. right now twitter's shares are up by 85%. and the company has a market value right now of more than $25 billion. this all happening even though the market is down. a lot of social media stocks have been selling off, facebook, yelp, groupon, linkedin, some of that money going out from them into twitter. after a record close for the dow yesterday it's down more than 100. >> thank you, jason brooks. >>> cate caugiran is live at twitter headquarters here in san francisco and cate, i guess not everyone is excited about the launch today. right? >> reporter: right. inside the building, inside twitter headquarters, there are a lot of happy twitter employees watching the

here to chat, kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, frank. good morning, michelle. tesla's earnings did come in above expectations on profit, revenue, also on its current quarter guidance. but when your stock has risen 5 times over since the beginning of the year, investors like to see blockbuster numbers. they didn't get that in the report. they were expecting even more model ss to be sold than what the company did about 5500 in the 3rd quarter. also, founder elon musk warned that current lithium ion production is not at the capacity it needs to be for the next generation model that should be come out in a few years a car intended for the mass market priced around $30,000. investors are betting on that model to take tesla forward in the future. as a result, its stock is taking a dive down 9.5%. twitter today will price its shares ahead of its expected ipo tomorrow. earlier this week, it hiked its initial range to 23 to $25 a share which would raise between 1.6 and $1.75 billion. nobody will be

kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks on this tuesday morning. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, frank. good morning, michelle. this would be the biggest settlement of its kind involving the biggest bank if the country jpmorgan chase. they are expecting an announcement with the justice department that jpmorgan chase agreed to a $13 billion settlement. this had been worked on for quite some time. we are starting to get more information on the various pieces of this settlement. the latest being a $4 billion chunk of that, that will go towards consumer relief. of course, we don't know the details of how that will be broken down and which consumers will be relieved by that. another $4 billion going to freddie mac and fannie mae because they bought billions of dollars in mortgages from jpmorgan chase leading up to the financial crisis that were worthless at the time. jpmorgan chase has plenty of money for this. they have set aside $23 billion so they won't feel it despite the big number of this. and investors just want to see this done with and

here now is finance reporter jason brooks on a monday. >> reporter: good morning. a big change at blackberry. they were hoping to make a deal for $4.7 billion. but that fell apart. instead the struggling smartphone maker is going to raise $1 billion of institutional investors to keep the business going. as a result of this thor is ston heins is stepping down. blackberry is not in the top five or six in shares. investors are not too pleased with this latest report. blackberry shares are falling by about 17% in the early going this morning. twitter just filing with the sec that it's expecting its price range in its upcoming ipo to be in the 23 to $25 range. that's quite a bit more than the expected range of 17 to $20. that means it could raise between 1.6 and $1.75 billion giving it an valuation right off the bat between 12 and $13 billion. an "associated press" cnbc poll came out and said americans were dubious about putting money in twitter. 36% say it's a good investment. 47% say not so good. we will see what happens when twitter goes pubilc. a decent start this m
