seven people were arrested at a mail processing center in springfield on tuesday. they gathered. on the busiest mail day of the year to protest the impending closure of the center. >> not necessary. the postal service is not broke. >> the mail processing center in springfield employs 169 people and has been told it's going to be forced to close sometime in february. now the financial pinch, the united states postal service is under all comes from the postal accountability act passed by congress in the lame duck session in 2006 which forces the postal service to prepay in advance, prepay, retiree health care for 75 years into the future, but they got to do it in a ten-year window. well, it's put a pinch on them big time. republicans have been gunning for the postal service to go privatized for a long time. they want to force this agency into bankruptcy and privatize it. how else can we read it? but here's what's happening in communities. people are starting to respond. you see, they hike their post office. it is vital. it's part of america's infrastructure, but it's what the repub

northbound i-95 heading into springfield, lanes have been open. an accident on the outer loop at telegraph road out of the roadway last report so that's not really an issue for you. maryland beltway incident free right now. but traffic in and out of baltimore. i-95 south of kayton avenue impacted by a serious crash. southbound lanes are completely shut down and they've been diverting the southbound traffic on the northbound lanes of 95 so headed to baltimore don't use northbound 95 because of the two left lanes closed there to turn that southbound traffic around. and a better bet now certainly seems to be the bw parkway 295 north to baltimore right now or even 29 as a consideration. we'll keep monitoring this as the morning goes on and we'll be back with more coming up. back to you. >> thanks, bev. talk to you in a little bit. >>> he changed the word. nelson mandela's fight for equality in south africa meant that millions of people would have a better life. this is a live shot of the celebration outside his home in hoe johannesburg. he died yester

or look at lucinda white and woman in springfield illinois who was tasered by police while eight months pregnant this april and it was like who called the police in the first place after a fender bender springfield police here to stand by their actions and there's been no charges against the officers in this case either. and you might remember this video of dwight harris the man in the wheelchair there getting forcefully tackled by two washington d.c. metro policemen in the spring of two thousand and eleven police said harris was drinking in public though those charges against harris were dropped shortly after this video was released and while harris alleges that police used excessive force and that he required stitches on his head the police were not charged and they kept their jobs. unfortunately these examples can just go on and on and on but on like in any of those cases i just mentioned in the case of kelly thomas the officers are actually facing charges police brutality is actually receiving one of those rare days in court and thus we should all pay close attention to this case. a
