you see facing comcast? >> guest: so what a surprise we should start with that question. well, obviously, we're going to have a serious governmental review of the transaction. but i'll be honest with you, i think the transaction is a lot less scary, it's a lot less large and a lot less complicated than some people would like to make it. so when you think about it in the video space, this is not a horizontal deal. we don't compete with time warner capable anywhere. there isn't a consumer in america anywhere who has a choice between buying comcast products or time warner cable products, and at the end of the day, we're going to have under 30% of the market, so not particularly scary. there's one thing that is appropriate to think about and to discuss, it is the implications on the broadband side. and i think there's a very good story there as well. lots of pro-competitive impacts, pro-consumer impacts from the transaction as a result of the increased scale and the increased investment. and, again, not a very s

basically to comcast so netflix will load much quicker on comcast. the reason why netflix has to do this is because comcast and the other providers were threatening to slow down netflix. because they can go to netflix and say, loading up you're loading a lot of video. we don't want to you move as quickly. we're going to start charging you extra money. or we're going to slow one content down and make it easier for competitors. netflix, because they have a lot of money, because they have a lot of money can pay comcast more money. >> hang on rashad. i want to get a quick response, then we have t go to-- >> none of that is true. they have spent a lot of money to build their own delivery network and cut deals with peering services and trending services like cogent. comcast is offering netflix a better deal a more cost effective way to do that. this deal shows that the market could work. what would be troubling is if comcast refused to cut a deal. if netflix would not have been able to cut an arrangement for them, that might have been a problem. but if you

in the case of comcast and netflix, comcast has refused to upgrade connections not only to our network to every other major backbone provider for the past year and a half. with that refusal, those connections became clogged and netflix was forced to enter into a more expensive agreement with comcast in order to bypass that congestion. it's fairly interesting, i feel like the implications are massive, not just for companies like yours who try to accelerate use on the internet but what are the implications? >> this is a titanic development. it makes the internet much more like cable tv. isre is a gatekeeper, it comcast or time warner cable, and they pick winners or losers and who makes it through their gates. it's like the traffic cones on the fort lee entrance to the george washington bridge. they are in a position to shape traffic and pick who gets to go through at a reasonable price. it's a big deal. >> i like to think of it as if ford owned the freeway and they decided that fords can only use the express lane. real problem here is that there is no choice. you got ford and nobody else

i do agree that it would protect comcast in that regard. a very valuable revenue for comcast. >> you do not need all of these various cable channels that you wind up paying $200 a month for. greg $40 a month, until somebody really comes up with a more competitive solution, mobile high-speed internet or something like that, and then all of these video services would be a add-on services. >> that is why add are working on, and it really trying to harness the power of video and make sure it is there for you. >> what really works for the cable operators over the last 10 years has been the bundle. this bundle of voice, video, and data. when you look at the triple play customer base there's been very little attrition and cord cutting because it is such a competitive package. would you unbundle that olympic of the cable model becomes at risk. they need to make sure that they keep the huddle together and at a good little value, but the real increment the value today for a cable subscribers not necessarily the video subscription, it is the broadband
