virginia bureau chief reporter, julie carey was there. >> reporter: when i interviewed him, he told me he wanted to meet the helicopter pilot that landed on this playground to help save him. he met the medic on board, got a chance to say thanks in person to that pilot. >> you were on the ground. we needed to get to you. we dodged over there. >> reporter: it's a conversation and reunion alexandria police officer, peter, hoped to have for months. on the one-year anniversary of the day he was shot in the head on motorcycle patrol, it happened. they heard the story of the day from one of the most critical emergency responders, park police eagle one pilot. >> somebody told me before that, officer down. i'm not going anywhere. that's what he did. you know, it's probably one of those thing that is probably saved my life. >> reporter: what's amazing to many is what he did to get to him so quickly. eagle one was on a presidential detail with two secret service personnel on board. medic heard the officer down call and eagle one broke away to head to alexandria. when they heard he was injured, th

. >>> and julie carey is live outside of the police headquarters, and we will go to her right now to find out what is going on. julie? >> well, i checked in with police a short while ago and they tell me that the tip line is busy here as alexandria residents start to absorb the news of yesterday's resolution, and start to think of the three unsolved murders in a new way, and today, we spoke with anne hanes and her husband was the late regional transportation planner ron kirby, and now he is one of the murders that could possibly be linked to the killing of nancy dunning, and just a few weeks ago the murder of ruthanne lodato as she answered the front door. police tell us that the bullets havecharacteristics as well as when they happen and how they happened leading police to believe they are linked. we are told that ann hathaway was briefed by police, and she is now encouraged that they are able to draw on more resources like the fbi to help solve this. >> i hope they do solve it, but i am not sure that the det detectives do feel that they have a better chance going nationwide to find

as bureau chief julie carey report, both neighborhoods are now on alert. >> reporter: patches of tape mark the place where the bullets went flying through the town home friday afternoon. and this neighbor did not know what it was at the time. >> i heard a loud boom that reflected off of the houses down below, and metallic click, but i walked out and i could not see anybody or anything. it was an unusual sound. >> reporter: the couple who lives here is not around today, but they say that the bullet passed through the bathroom wall and then shattered the glass door and drew their attention. they did not realize with what caused the damage until they were cleaning up, and found a spent bullet in the seat cover. the loudoun county sheriff's department responded, but they did not know where the bullet came from. it has this mom worried. >> you are in the safety of your own home, and sitting down having dinner, and now something could happen, a stray bullet or whether they are cleaning the weapon or something, and it would went off or dleliberate, e don't know. >> reporter: and it is the se
