ron and carolyn are the founders of royal polk neighbors and these two individuals shaped how i have thought about neighborhood activism because they were the very first neighborhood activists who i ever met over a dozen years ago. as some of you know, i live in the polk street neighborhood and over a dozen years ago at a time when the lower polk neighborhood was pretty challenged, i was looking around to see who was doing leadership and i came across ron and carolyn. and the two of them had moved into the neighborhood to start their small architectural firm in 1998 and a few years later after taking stock of the issue in the neighborhood they founded lower polk neighbors and they have been managing lower polk neighbors for the better part of a dozen years. i came across ron and carolyn when their organization was meeting monthly with a hearty band of volunteers. and over the years they have tackled everything. organizing monthly clean ups, dealing with the drug dealers, ensuring appropriate development. just within the last few years they have been helping to organize farmers market

carolyn. >> thank you, lisa. happening now, thousands of runners are spread out across the streets of san francisco for the bay to breakers. abc7 news reporter sergio is live at the finish line. sergio, that race was delayed for more than 20 minutes. what was going on? >> well, as you mentioned, this has been delayed. this is an iconic race that this year is under new management. they unfortunately started the race almost a half an hour behind schedule. a lot of the runners just started passing the finish line here just about half an hour ago. the delay of the race seems to be because of some problems with signs along the route. the scheduled start time was 8:00 a.m. but that kept getting pushed. from sky 7hd you see the elite runners finally bolted past the starting line at about 8:25, nearly half an hour behind schedule. the problem with some unsecured scaffolding on hayes hill. crews had to make sure that was secured before they could get the racers on the course. while the delay was not part of the plan nor t

dan and carolyn? >> what a story, thank you. >> thank you. >>> new video of spring storms rumbling through colorado and large hail and a number of tornadoes. even the animals were not spared. the storms lead to flight delays and cancellations that affected flights to and from denver and san jose. forecasters say the end of may is a peak time for severe weather in colorado. spring is a pretty volatile time in that part of the country. >> it warmed up nicely and sandhya patel is here with the forecast. >> temperatures did come up today and springtime for the bay area means the marine layer. here is live doppler 7hd. you can see how gray it is not just near the coast, but over the bay. the visibility is down to five miles in half moon bay. watch out for the fog. first thing tomorrow morning you will have to deal with the gray conditions and it may be misty at times. the fog and low clouds will work into some of our bayside communities and into some of our valleys and then pull away as we head into the af

. >> hi, carolyn, good morning. live doppler 7hd not showing any fog heading the coast it is along the central coast. but we are waking up to this. clear conditions. sutro tower. temperatures all in the 50s except half moon bay 46. 55 in san jose, as well as san carlos. oakland the warm spot at 57. today, as you head on out, a little cool. we will warm up quickly even at the coast you will see temperatures well into the 60s. san francisco low 60s. it will get breezy around the bay. and inland mid-80s to low 90s. we will hold on to a few 90s tomorrow, despite the beginning after cooling friend. we will talk about that in detail coming up. carolyn. >> lisa, thank you. this morning we are learning more about friday night's matt murders in isla vista near the u.c. santa barbara campus. according to officials there were ten incidents that left six victims dead, at least 13 injured, and before the rampage the killer posted videos on youtube. >> "tomorrow is the day of retribution. the day in which i will have my revenge."
