"today in the bay" christie smith live by the police department with an update on the baby's condition. good morning. >> good morning to you, scott. the latest word we have from concord police is that the baby is still hospitalized listed in stable condition after drowning in a backyard swimming pool mother's day, yesterday. it took a joint effort to save this baby' life and certainly a reminder of the things that might happen as kids try to cool off with these hot temperatures we're going to see this week. concord police were called to a home on ducker court about 6:15 yesterday evening. a report of a baby who drowned in a backyard pool. concord police arrived and found that baby nonresponsive being cared for by family members who tried to revive the child. concord police took over life-saving measures until paramedics could arrive moments later. that baby taken to the medical center and then another hospital for treatment. i have reached out to concord police this morning and

this all started last night in concord around 10:30 when a concord police sergeant was patrolling monument boulevard. he noticed a person driving recklessly. when he tried to pull that driver over, the driver sped off and the chase was on. it reached speeds up to 100 miles an hour. he lost control. he was not ejected from the car but sustained major injuries. a gash to the head and was transported to the hospital in critical condition. police say the driver is 19- year-old michael holden of concord and he stole the car in walnut creek. because his injuries were so severe, the major accident investigative team is out here. they have lagonda way open where we are right now below the freeway. but two lanes of 680 southbound are closed. the chp, the da, the sheriffs office, and the concord police department are all out here this morning. when we receive an update on the suspect, we will be sure to let you know. tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. >>> we are also following breaking news in the east bay. several streets are shut down in berkeley right now as fire crews battle a house fire. that i

on this mother's day a concord family deals with a frightening life of death ordeal after their young child was pulled from their backyard swimming pool. ktvu's debora villalon joins us live from concord with the efforts to rescue that infant. >> reporter: this was a 1-year- old boy who was revived and we're told is in stable condition right now. take a look at video from about 90 minutes ago of the baby being put into an ambulance to be transferred to children's hospital in oakland. there was a helicopter on stand by to air lift him but the decision was made to take him and his mother by ground. this transfer came after the boy had been revived and stabilized which took a few hours. the actual 911 call came in about 6:15 that an infant had drowned in a backyard pool. concord police arrived to find the boy lifeless and family members trying frankicly to find him. those officers took over cpr until fire paramedics got there. they rushed to a near by park where a medivac met them and he ended up going to john concord campus with a police escort that time. all of this very traumatic very
