janine de la vega has been on the story since 4:30. you are joining us to tell us what firefighters are saying about the people who live in the home. janine? >> reporter: it's a very grim mood out here. i just spoke with sunnyvale police who is handling this investigation along with their firefighters. and they tell me they don't know who the two people are they found inside. they weren't able to determine their genders. everyone fears it's the elderly couple who lives here. take a look at this home. it's completely destroyed. sunnyvale's department of public safety is just beginning their investigation. flames shot out of the windows. smoke was billowing near 101 and north fair oaks at 2:00 this morning. police evacuated neighbors as well as a man in his 50s who lives in the home. the fire was knocked down in 20 minutes. no other structures caught fire. but concern quickly turned to that man's parents because they were unaccounted for. police tried their cell phones all morning. they hadn't been able to locate them. neighbors say the

janine de la vega is joining us now from san jose with more on this story. janine. >> reporter: pam, we expect emotions to run high when people file into this courthouse later this morning. right now there is a caravan of buses traveling here from l.a.. they want the judge to know they don't want a man who terrorized women to live in their community. serial rapist christopher was convicted of raping and assaulting 40 women between 1971 and 1982 throughout california. including the bay area. he's been in a state mental hospital since his release from prison in 1996. this morning a judge in santa clara county will hold a hearing to determine if he should be released in unincorporated palm dale which is about an hour out of the l.a. area. that plan has sparked outrage among people who have lived in that community. nay have organized a facebook page urging people to come to the bay area to tell the judge that hubbard is not wanted and to keep looking for another city to relocate him. now when the protestors arrive we plan on talking to them about all of this and

ktvu janine de la vega is outside that garage right now. and you have new video of that mountain lion just moments after television captured. >> reporter: good morning. yeah imagine having a 110-pound mountain lion just roaming around residential neighborhood. that is what people live here on california street were dealing with last night. police told them to stay inside, that didn't happen. a lot of people were out here still watching. authorities were able to get the situation under control partly because the mountain lion cornered itself in a parking lot. now let's go to new video that we do have of the large cat after it was tranquilized. the mountain lion was first spotted at 2:30 yesterday afternoon when people called police after they spotted it jumping over a fence. it then traveled down to california street and made its way into a parking garage of a condo complex. you can see it hiding underneath a car there with its eyes peering out. there was a heavy police presence. they set up a perimeter. finally a warden from the department

janine de la vega is live in san jose with the claims that both patients and doctors don't really know the real dakers of these drugs -- dangers of these drugs. good afternoon, janine. >> reporter: these are serious accusations being thrown at five big pharmaceutical companies. they say that specific pain medication is leading to drug abuse, not just here in santa clara county but across the state and it needs to stop. the santa clara county council and the orange county district attorney's office filed a lawsuit in state superior court yesterday. they say over the past two decades, a handful of big pharmaceutical companies have been pedaling the benefits of prescription painkillers such as oxycodone and percoset. the claim alleges the drugmakers are profiting but there's no scientific evidence that these are effective for treating long-term cancer pain. the county county discussed the lawsuit and talked about the problems they've seen here in santa clara county. >> we've seen increases in overdose deaths. we've seen babies born with opiate withdrawal and crime associated with opiate a

ktvu's janine de la vega has been on the scene all morning and talked to neighbors about the people who lived there. she joins us live. good afternoon, janine. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. it's incredibly sad for this mobile home park community. neighbors say three people lived inside this mobile home but only one escaped alive. the task force is here. you can see them there sifting through the debris to figure out how this started. twisted metal and charred wood are heaped in the pile of rubble close to the entrance of this mobile home park on borregas avenue. a fire ripped through the home. firefighters discovered the body of a man, a woman and a cat. >> we don't have the identities on the people. but we suspect it could be the parents. >> reporter: a man in his 50s lived her with his mother and her boyfriend. police got him out safe at 2:00 a.m. surrounding neighbors were evacuated as firefighters worked to put out flames. >> it went up so fast. >> reporter: police interviewed the son. there was problems communicating because neighbors say he has a mental disability. the red cr

ktvu's janine de la vega joining us live now from san jose to show you the video the police hope will lead to an arrest. >> reporter: good morning. since this robbery happened two weeks ago here at clyde's liquor at 680 and hostetter, more surveillance cameras have been incalled -- installed. this robbery was scary. no one expects to be confronted at gunpoint, especially at 10:30 in the morning. >> everybody back. now. back. [bleep] >> back up. open the register arrest now! >> reporter: the surveillance video shows a man in a dark hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses walk into the store and he yells at everybody to get on the ground. strikes a customer in the face with the gun knocking him to the floor. the cashier tried to hide. the gunman demands she open the register. the robber demands the cash and runs out of the store. the cashier did not want to be identified. >> i hope they can catch people out of there so they don't leave too much fear on people's lives. >> back up. back up! >> reporter: when the robber left, he got into a silver newer-looking toyota sedan driven by another suspe

janine de la vega is live with a description of the suspect and how his distinguished haircut could help catch him. >> reporter: the gunman was across the street at another strip mall on cochran road. now, in that case, the victim refused to give up her purse. so then the suspect came here and hit this subway in cochran plaza. surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect. he's a white man in his 20s with a slim build. he has a mohawk hairstyle and a tattoo on his left wrist. police say at 9:00 last night, he drove up to a woman walking in the target parking lot on cochran road and he pulled out a shot gun. he then demanded her purse, she refused and he drove away. five minutes later, a man matching that description walked in the subway down the street with a shot gun, threatened the employees, robbed the restaurant and left. >> normally it's a safe area. surprising. i work just two blocks from here. shocking to hear something like that. >> reporter: the man was last seen wearing a black punisher t- shirt, green shorts and black and white shoes. his vehicle is described as a white

idea cd is joining -- janine de la vega is joining us from morgan hill. she is there and we will check in with her in a little bit. >>> a warning from oakland police this morning about a rash of home invasion robberies. police say there have been at least 30 home invasions. five just this month. the most recent robbery happened saturday night in the redwood heights neighborhood. family members say three men wearing ski masks demanded money at gunpoint. >> hay had their guns to -- they had their guns to my back and it was just like really nerve wracking for the longest time. one of the guys that escorted me back to my room he cocked his gun in frustration. >> the family was robbed -- the family that was robbed says they may move out of that neighborhood. >>> prosecutors have asked for more time. garcia was in court yesterday. she is accused of grabbing a 12- year-old boy by the throat last week. her attorney says that boy is lying about what happened. he says she never touched the boy but did ask him to stop bullying her daughter. she will be back in court

that's where ktvu's janine de la vega is live and janine, you have spoken to mr. hidden cash this morning. any clues where the money will be? >> reporter: you know, i've been sworn to secrecy. he did tell me that he's going to be dropping cash in numerous locations, possibly four or five. he just tweeted out, i want to say within the last seven seconds and said, first ever san jose drop across from where the sea creatures play, a dog pees in the fall. it's a picture of a fire hydrant. that's the clue he left to everybody. he will be leaving them at random locations throughout the day in san jose. this man known as hidden cash has been leaving $50 to $100 bills stuffed in envelopes in the san francisco bay area for the past several days. he told ktvu he made a fortune in real estate and wants to give some of his money away. it's also part of a social experiment. hidden cash says he has fun doing the treasure hunts for people. yesterday, he left clues on twitter and had people running to pier 39, lombard and the palace of fine arts. he's also used obscure locations
