michaud, is recognized for one minute. mr. michaud: thank you very much, mr. speaker. i rise today to welcome chaplain donald williams as today's guest chaplain. chaplain williams is originally from springfield, missouri, but he came to maine in 1985 where he served as pastor of the fellowship baptist church. chaplain williams was sworn in as deputy sheriff and chaplain for the county sheriff's office in 1987. in addition to serving as chaplain for the maine state police and augusta police department, he was involved with maine law enforcement chaplain corps and the state's criminal justice academy. chaplain williams has gone above and beyond in serving the spiritual need of maine's police force for over 20 years. his remarkable service was reflective in his nomination for the 2010 national sheriff's association chaplain of the year award. he is a true asset to our state and our country and i'm proud to stand with him here today. thank you very much, mr. speaker, and i yield back the balance of my time. the speaker pro tempore: the gentleman yields back the balance of

michaud, for five minutes. mr. michaud: i'm joined here together by my -- today by my colleagues from the french caucus we may pay tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the american soldiers who landed at normandy france on june 6, 1944. this marks the 40th anniversary of d-day. next week members of the house will travel to normandy to join president obama and other allied heads of state to honor and remember the heroism of the longest day. 130,000 soldiers stormed the beaches at normandy, long stretches with no cover from the mean, fire that rained down from the hillsides above. others parachuted or glided into the country side, while at a point situated between utah and omaha, the second rangers climbed straight up the high cliffs, dodging gunfire and grenades and straight into the sight of the enemy cannons. it was a daunting, terrifying battlefield, but our troops answered the call with first class bravery and they got the job done as they always do. the historic victory came at a price. the allied casualties

mrs. kirkpatrick: thank you, mr. speaker. i rise in support of h.r. 2942, a bill that will help transitioning service members find employers who want to make a smart investment hiring a veteran. this bill, to re-establish the professional certification and licensure advisory committee of the department of veterans affairs, will allow subject matter experts to review state licenses and credentialing to certify that military men and women in specific career fields are able to transfer their skills to the private sector. by the time most of our service men and women leave the military, they have gained a wealth of experience that can translate into civilian career fields. in addition to teamwork, perseverance, loyalty and leadership, our military service members possess technical skills that are valuable to employers. unfortunately, many of our military service men and women have difficulty finding jobs after leaving the military because they don't have a civilian license or certification. they possess the same skills and have t

thank you so much for c-span and good morning mr. michaud. i know quite a bit about education here in indianapolis. i have raised four children and three grandchildren. they all go to ips. we are completely satisfied. my eldest daughter had 10 years of spanish from the minute she started kindergarten half-day and spanish have today in english. these teachers don't have near the classroom supplies that are necessary. they spend a lot of their money which they go to college for a long time to become a teacher. for them not to even be making a living wage by the time they pay their student loans and take care of these poor children who 30% are homeless. how can you compare those children to those children that have two homes, they have a teacher and they have two parents. how can they compare with ideas is done and i know mr. bennett he got voted out and i heard he had his celebration party schedule that the blue crest steakhouse breakout that they had -- that night. we get rid of him. >> host: bill that stick to education arguments here. >> gue

michaud, sent a december 20, 2013, letter to the white house requesting that mr. park make himself available to the committee to answer questions regarding the security issues with healthcare.gov by january 10. as we stand here today, oftp has ignored the request for mr. park to testify and have done so three times. don't the american people deserve answers from those in charge of overseing the implementation of the obamacare website security protocol? after all, mr. park is a deputy to oftp director holdren. but when asked at a march 26, 2014, hearing about mr. park's refusal to testify, director holdren stated that todd park, quote, doesn't report to me. i can't compel him come and testify. unquote. if he does not report to the ostp director, why are he and his office of chief technology officer an official part of the office of -- office of science and technology policy? the ostp director supposedly directs, manages and supports. if mr. todd park does not in fact report to ostp, then his office should not be funded by ostp. and i think now, through this amendme
