nbc 10 jersey shore bureau reporter ted greenberg has the details on this harrowing bust. ted? >> reporter: police tell me they started investigating this store about three weeks ago. the way their raid here went down in the middle of the day was by design. only nbc 10 was trailing pleasantville police as a line of cruisers converged on the stop and save market on busy main street this afternoon. a grocery store that investigators say also carried heroin. >> i was over here last week getting some items for dinner and i had no idea that that was going on. >> reporter: the raid in broad daylight quickly drew an audience. police arrested 29-year-old cameron khalid who's believed to be the store's owner. that's him on the floor. we watched as new jersey state police brought in a drug sniffing dog and here's what authorities say they found. about 400 bags of heroin. plus, a sizable amount of cash. >> it was an open air narcotic market going on from inside the store. he wasn't concealing the fact. it was right over the counter. >> reporter: they are in the process of cleaning up and

ted greenberg live today in atlantic city. ted, people made their voices heard today at a news conference on the boardwalk. >> that's right, renee. casino workers, union leaders and elected officials held what was basically a verbal bashing of billionaire carl icahn who is the main lender to the company that owns the trump taj mahal. >> bankrupt trump entertainment resorts has threatened to close the taj in november if it doesn't get major cost-cutting concessions from workers and massive tax breaks from the city and state. the company shut down its other casino, trump plaza, last month. carl icahn says he'd consider providing a $100 million life line to save the taj if trump entertainment is able to get those concessions which would have workers give up their health care and pension benefits, something they're vehemently opposing as well as the government help. but when talking about that assistance at a news conference today, state senate president steve sweeney said no way. >> i have leadership from every branch of governme

nbc 10 jersey shore bureau reporter ted greenberg picks up the story from there, live this afternoon from middle township, cape may county. ted? >> reporter: well, denise, luckily it wasn't too cold overnight but thomas graham said he still had to deal with a constant wind out here on the bay, averaged with just his t-shirts, shorts and three bottles of water. >> the battery went dead and i couldn't get it started. >> reporter: with that, thomas graham's wave runner stopped working launching what would become a 17-hour stranding on the back bay near avalon. >> i knew i had to pace myself. i didn't want to panic. >> reporter: the wave runner broke down soon after he left from his middle township home around 3:00 yesterday afternoon. 68-year-old navy veteran stayed on the craft as it drifted to are miles with no way to call for help. >> no phone, nothing in my pockets. >> it was a nightmare, total panic and unsure of what to do. >> reporter: graham's wife reported him missing when he didn't come back, prompting a massive search by the coast guard along with state and local authorities.

you can count on nbc 10, ted greenberg is headed to new york city later today. you watch for his live reports starting at 4 p.m. >>> following more breaking news out of northampton county. one person is dead after a police chase ended with a shooting. started in palmer township and ended in easton township. katie zakry was the first reporter on the scene. what can you tell us? >> reporter: first, excuse the slant because we're on a hill. easton, north 13th in spring garden. we got new information from police. they tell me this did begin with a police officer chasing -- traffic stop in palmer township. it made -- that chase made its way to third street in spring garden. the pickup driver crashed in front of a telephone pole in front of a row home. police did fire shots at the driver. he is dead. this is important to note, investigators say until the coroner does his exam, they won't know if the driver died from gunshot wound from police or died from injuries he sustained in the crash. i'm getting new information. in the next bit i'll have more info on a tool stat
