now to atlantic city casino crisis. giving its union an ultimatum. the union does not drop its appeal of a savings package to keep the casino alive, they will shut it down next month leaving 3,000 employees out of work. the union blames carl icahn and says if he didn't increase the interest rate there would be enough money for all workers to have health insurance. trump's ceo sent a letter to workers saying we tried everything to save this company. the letter continues, this is like a spoiled child. saying to his parents who have just gone bankrupt, i will not under any circumstances give up my fancy sports car. meantime, a new jersey lawmaker thinks he can help stabilize atlantic city financial crisis. yesterday state senate president outlined a plan that he says will raise $305 million towards the city's $377 million tax levee. it would establish a set amount that the casinos pay in taxes each year and also allow all casino operators to pay health care and retirement benefits for employees and it would redirect gambling taxes to pay off debt. >>> t

i talked with officials over at the atlantic city rescue mission. they say that they have seen a tremendous increase and expect things to get worse this winer and that turn for the worse could begin this week. the mission's pastor tells me the closing of the four casinos has sent a flood of families to his door. 850 families signed up for thanksgiving food baskets in less than two days. and they're struggling to serve upwards of 1,000 meals each day. this doesn't include the people the mission shelters each night, overflow conditions with a waiting list for women and children. coming up in the next half hour, what you can do to help. live in atlantic city, jesse gary, nbc 10 news. >>> and police still haven't determined exactly what happened to a woman whose naked body was found lying near a busy shopping center in south philadelphia yesterday. the body was found next to a warehouse on south columbus boulevard near modell sporting goods and shoprite. a witness tells nbc 10 the body was not there earlier in the day and police have not confirmed the w

and the crisis in atlantic city is proof. the gaming board is considering four applications for a new casino. we contacted the board for a comment but at the moment it's not saying anything about sugar house's petition. >>> atlantic city could soon get millions in unpaid taxes from the former revel casino hotel. talk about casino crisis. a bankruptcy court judge ruled they can move forward with collecting $32 million. a toronto based company is paying $100 million for the casino. >>> nmg new jersey's red light camera contract runs out soon. drivers may no longer need to get -- may no longer get the tickets in the mail. after five years the pilot program is set to end on december 16th. so far none of the state's legislative leaders have stepped up to extend it up certain pores of red light cameras argue the program improves safety. they say over time drivers are more cautious at monitored intersections and accidents decrease. but those we spoke to say they don't change their driving habits because of the cameras. >>> more news
