director reiskin. >> thank you. the only other thing i want to mention we have exciting infrastructure work coming to the muni system it's exciting at least for us who are responsible for operating muni we've talked a lot here in different forms particle in the capitalized budget of the importance in investing in the infrastructure of the one hundred-year-old system what's coming in is the sunset improvement programming project it is a part of the two year capital budget to replace the rails in the sunset tunneled and other associated equipment is it's critically important work that proves the liability of muni making sure we don't have infrastructure problems there's construction involved with working group our infrastructure we'll have a number of weekend shutdowns as previously and carl and coal projects that is the section of the track in the middle a few years ago we had track on both sides on november 7th through 10 we're going to shut done the tunnel and there will be about 15 weekend between now and next sum

realty 4 years ago our residents actually organized a walk on significantly street that included edward reiskin and is ta and dpw and we started on significantly and market and walked to ross and to fulsome to talk about the needs that the community needs to make sixth street a safer place for the youth and seniors and mother jones and the collaborative to talk how the intersection was unsafe and we even crossed the crosswalks at significantly to see whether cars would stop for crossing when we walked across the street from that experience the following year the mayor's office actually worked with our office to fund a pilot we knew it would take a look at to get the prong we the first bulb out on significantly and howard number one and 3 on the top collision intersection in the city to shorten the walking distance for our pedestrians before you to remind drivers that those curb outs are an important place of safety for our walkers and finally opened the signal an ross for many families that walk across the street to go to betsy carmichael and now we're here today to open this signal (clapping)

happy news i was honored to join, reiskin and other official to welcome, the u.s. secretary of transportation, cox and he came to announce the 100 million letters of grant of which sfmta was awarded $9 million to expand the muni bus fleet. this will pay for 12 motor coaches adding capacity to routes, such as the bay shore and the 38 x, geary (inaudible) as part of the moving forward project and so congratulations sfmta and we can't, we can't get the buses soon enough and i know that there is quite a bit of demand, seeking more capacity on those lines, in parallel, a $13 million prop k grant is at work to support sfmta in conducting additional planning and design of the routes and so we are plowseded to partner with sfmta. he's visionary leader and accomplished a tremendous amount and he inspired and excited and challenged us on many fronts and we hope to live up to the award that they need to do the transport and policy in 2012, and we received the 50 sustain able transportation award i want to thank you for joining us on the bike tour and the mission streets event

and that finishes my comments, i didn't know if director reiskin? >> just a couple of quick points, i think line under the surface, and i think that director lee made some reference to it and maybe something that we can bring forward at the next meeting here. and maybe in like the planning department, and is what is the long term and what is the 50 year vision for the 4th and king? what is the ultimate disposition and because i think that director lee was correct, that we will be as part of this process there will be trade offs and compromise and seems like one compromise of keeping the dedicated platforms will kind of lock in the need for permanent fourth and king facility, where i think that dtx envisions a fourth and townsend underground station which i think that there are difference of opinion on what the long term disposition of fourth and king is. and but the decisions that we are making here, and what assumptions people have of what it looks like 50 years from now, and it will be impacted by the decisions that we are making here and so that
