. >>> all right, let's turn things over to meteorologist jeff ranieri, we're seeing the storm enter the bay area? >> yes, by thursday's forecast you will see on the sky cam network, over cast skies upper 60s, forecast tomorrow will not yield too many major differences at least for most of the region. south bay peninsula, tri valley saying in the 60s, in the north bay we're expecting the chance of rain for tomorrow. isolated to marin, napa and sonoma counties. we'll take a look at the storm system, very large out here in the pacific. the storm is moving away from us. check out the flow of the moisture out ahead of it. our confidence continues to increase and this event will happen. we'll show you another thing here that helps to indicate to us that this moisture is actually going to move in. there is a lot going on in this right now. the main key is to look at the surface flow. the main wind flow here is coming out of the south here with the wind direction. that is the surface. now, the next map will show you 18,000 feet. the 500 chart looking at the wind you can see the direction this i

ranieri and it felt like summer here, jeff? >> yes wild and wacky, and random area here. and check out the temperatures, nearly up to 80 e degree, and we had to look at that as we looked at half moon bay, and you can see the scrolling seven-day tick, and that heat is going to continue through the next several days. in the morning forecast if you rare getting up early, we can expect clear skies for the most of the bay area, and 40 in the south bay and east bay and the coolest weather, expect 42 degrees. this is the deal on the weather pattern, and high pressure sitting across california is not only likely for the next seven days, but the next ten days and you will see the fluctuations, where it is going to be weakening and then strengthen, and that is the forecast up and down numbers coming your way, but looking into the microcast forecast into friday. it is not up comfortable, and be honest here, because it is incredibly great weather into the friday forecast, and it is 10 to 20 degree above where we should be por this time of

jeff ranieri is tracking the storm. how much moisture will we get this weekend? >> it will vary widely. the core of the system is still off to the north. that's why we've mainly had the cloud cover increase today. a dramatic drop in temperatures. the other thing has been the wind coming out of the north 20 to 40 miles per hour. current reading of 308 miles per hour. wind whipped waves as high as seven feet. the highest wind gust even to 51 at foster city. san francisco financial district 49. bodega bay at 38. as the colder wind arrived, temperatures dropped 9 to 149 degrees from yesterday when we had 70s down top 60s today. menlo park 62 and ansell mosul 61. as we head throughout saturday's forecast, we are anticipating that rainfall and as we mentioned totals will widely range. looks like less amounts for the north bay and the east bay. check it out. we'll likely have a little bit of a bull's eye for the south bay. santa clara to morgan hill the santa cruz mountains it anywhere from .15 to possibly over a half inch. we'll calculate our snow totals and let you kn

. >> jodi hernandez and jeff ranieri are following the storm. where is it now? >> it's two to three miles off to the north and we're going to gradually watch this slowly push off towards the south as we head through the next 36 hours. we'll zoom in on the radar. most the activity is across eureka, california. it will eventually slide down here to us. we still do think, as we head throughout 8:30 9:30 and 10:30, we see showers develop in the north bay. we're not worried about flooding in marin or sonoma county. for several hours at a time it's the overnight. also into tomorrow the rainfall is going to go over the same spot and that's why we have the flash flood watch that's been issued

i'm sure jeff ranieri planned it all. >> it will feel like vacation when he gets off the plane. we usually don't see these temperatures until may. unreal. okay. let's get a look outside the sky camera network. clear skies throughout the bay. really one of the most beautiful spots is coming in from our weather underground camera in belvedere across the north bay and you can see unlimited amount here of blue sky stretching across the north bay. as we head throughout tomorrow morning's forecast they do think it is probably one of the clearest mornings we have had in a morning. east bay peninsula and south bay temperatures in upper 40s and also low 50s. now, here is the deal with the weather. right now it looks like we are not going to see any chance of rain for at least seven days maybe 14 days. and all because of high pressure sitting on top of california. that's going to act as big shield keeping any kind of storm system away and also keeping that mile there right here across the state. let's take you into the forecast as we head through friday. look at least if we can't get rain

. >> yes, we go to our meteorologist jeff ranieri. >> yes, we will have rainfall that when it comes slow to start tonight with only a few sprinkles in the north bay, but most of it is off of the shore at the moment, but as the forecast modeling is show ging by 1:30 we should have rainfall start manage the north bay. here is where the problem is coming in, by 4:00, still over the north bay and that is the case at 6:00 in the morning. e e vp chully the rainfall is going going -- eventually it will push over to the landfall and over marin and san mateo counties. if you are used to it, you want to watch the creeks and the rivers and the streams behind your house closely. with the friday storm, we will have winds gusting 40 to 50 miles per hour and we are stressing that it could take down trees and power lines and traveling will be hazardous. this is the first in a series of two storms in the next three days. we will talk about the impressive rainfall totals, and how much we expect to pick up in 15 minutes. >> thank you, jeff. we are out of practice when it comes to this. the last time we had

. >> let's get back to jeff ranieri now. any curve balls as we see this thing come through? >> it is not completely as slow as expected. that mitigates flooding concern. it drops a lot of water on the roadways as we have seen from our team of reporters out there. i think that will continue at left for the next three to four hours. our first storm now in 44 days. winds are gusting at coastline up to 40 miles per hour. wind whipped waves as high as 19 feet. so obviously heading off to the beach is an good idea. 24-hour totals impressive in the north bay. on the radar right now taking you down the strongest and that's across the peninsula. this is going to be continually move ofging off towards the north and east in santa clara as we continue for the next five minutes at the next current rate. heading towards san jose the other key concern is right here across the tri valley. that's where rain fall rates are approaching three quarters inch an hour and that's where flooding concern may come in over the next 30 to 40 minutes. up across this is not the kind of situation we need ri
