further to the north we're talking frederick county, the panhandle of west virginia, cumberland, hagerstown, allegheny and washington counties, that advisory is until 8 a.m. we a hang on a little bit longer mixing with sleet and we have a wintery mix on tap for those areas. 38 degrees at reagan national airport with just rain, winds calm, dew point 29 degrees. we'll continue to see that rain changing over in areas where the snow is currently falling. so it will be a wet monday morning commute and maybe just a bit of lingering slush in a couple areas on the roadways, but since a lot of roadways have been pretreated it shouldn't be a big problem, but you will need the windshield wipers and it could be heavy with the rainfall. far north and west and higher elevations is where the icy spots could still be hanging on during the monday morning commute. in the afternoon windy conditions move in and dry things out. it's going to get temperatures to plummet. a flurry or snow shower is possible in the afternoon monday, but overall no accumulation. we'll just see a quick flake or two. that's about it.

we have a winter storm watch in effect now for western loudoun county frederick, washington, panhandle of west virgini northern fauquier and all these counties in blue for snow, sleet andizing. the timing on its arrival on saturday leading edge of snow moves in to shenandoah valley and up toward the pennsylvania border panhandle of west virginia around noontime. after that moves in will to the metro area during the rest of the afternoon. continues to snow until around 6:00 7:00. pink zone that's an area where we could get sleet mixing in with the snow changing to freezing rain late in the evening and then rain mainly after midnight on saturday night. so it will be a nasty mix leaving around 2 to 4 inches of snow and sleet. metro area could get 4 to 7 inches in a big zone just north and west of us all the way into the mountains and shenandoah valley lightser amounts 1 to 2 inches southern maryland eastern shore. after that changes over to rain sunday morning. a little sun back sunday afternoon. a brief break sunday afternoon may make it into the 40s. and then we get cold again on monday

we have a windchill advisory all these counties in blue frederick, washington county panhandle of west virginia this is in effect until 10:00 this morning. now we have a high wind watch for gusts to 60 miles an hour that's saturday night into sunday morning. all these counties in color northern virginia, the district and much of maryland that will be saturday night into sunday morning. good travel weather driving today with dry pavement. morning, midday and afternoon. winds will bedy mip diminishing in the away but grip the wheel this morning. afternoon temperatures upper 20s with bright sunshine. saturday cloudy and maybe a few scattered snow showers late afternoon and evening. near 40 before then. then those strong winds come in saturday night into sunday midday. highs sunday only around 20. near record cold monday morning, single digits. highs for president's day will be reaching the mid-20s and then a chance a small chance of some snow tuesday night into wednesday. one of the models didn't give us in but a couple still give us some. so stay tuned. melissa is looking at a new crash.

feeling into the single digits if not below zero for areas into the panhandle of maryland. tuesday afternoon stays very cold, into the mid-30s. the sunshine stays. these strong northwesterly winds are bringing this. this cold pocket of air through pittsburgh up through detroit where they saw snow from the same system where we just saw a lot of rain. here's a look at the wind gust tracker. we're seeing wind gusts up to 30 mile an hour winds right now. this afternoon they continue to pick up. near 45, even up to near 50, especially in the higher elevations. that's why we have the wind advisory in place until midnight tonight. so the winds stay until about tomorrow midday. then they die off. so tomorrow we'll be cold but we'll lose the winds by the afternoon. it will just be cold instead of blustery. 48 degrees right now. enjoy t. it's going to drop off pretty fast. we do dry out. rain east of 95 not growing to be there too much longer. give it another hour or two and it will push on out. by tuesday looking at sunshine, 37 degrees. wednesday how about this. 49. that's going to

we got a little snow shower just west of hagerstown and parts of the panhandle of west virginia. it will increase overnight. we could see a snowflake here by dawn tomorrow. don't freak out. refreezing tonight, appears as black ice. if it appears wet, it's frozen. bus stop temperatures 16 to 28. early flurry or snow shower possible tomorrow. then a dry and cold finish to the week and the month, too. looks like this month will go down as one of the colder februaries on record. 6 a.m. in the morning, a lot of clouds, 28 downtown, low 20s in the suburbs, 23 gaithersburg, leesburg, manassas. look really careful in leesburg a little bit of a snow shower. a few snow showers are possible. by 9:00 most of the clouds are on the east side of 95, 20s, and by 1:00 futurecast has snow showers right along the west side of the bay. we begin to clear out, 20s, maybe 30 downtown by 1:00. by top evening temps fall quickly, 205 in gaithersburg, 28 in ma -- 25 in gaithersburg, 28 in manassas. by tomorrow at midnight we're in the low to mid-teens and i think this may be a little high, 14 in gaithersbu
