new government surveys show a sharp rise in concern over beijing policies. we have our reporter joining us from tokyo with more. isabel, what are japan's concerns here? reporter: what we've seen is a very significant change this time. three years ago, north korea was far and away the top security concern. about two thirds of japanese people said they were concerned. this time, concerns on north korea have gone down slightly. china has become the biggest topic of interest for japanese people in security. that is not surprising because we haven't seen a nuclear test from north korea in two years, and we've been getting a constant stream of news in japan about china's activities around the disputed islands that are between japan and china, and close to japanese airspace, ships close to japanese oceans, that has become something in the forefront of japanese minds recently. why is it important for the government to do this poll? what is the incentive for them to do this? >> it is something they do in great detail and it happens every three years. i think the init
