i'm jan jeffcoat. >> i'm derek mcginty. ellison barber joins us from the newsroom with more. 1,000 workers sounds like a goodley number. >> it is, but we wanted to know how many are from prince george's county. we got to meet three. that's janey oliver, a native of maryland and lives 15 minutes from the mgm site where she works as an electrician. thomas and brian work on the site and say they've lived in prince george's county for years. construction carried on behind them as mgm executives began to flood the site celebrating hiring 1,000 construction workers. governor larry hogan praised the project for creating jobs, but not everyone is convinced the project is off to a good start. some say mgm is not hiring as many minority owned businesses or local workers as they originally promised. last year -- >> year going to overhire the entire program and revamp the entire procurement process. >> reporter: last year an audit found a martin o'malley's administration failed to monitor or report minority participation on four other

i'm jan jeffcoat. >> i'm nick giovanni. chief meteorologist topper shutt is tracking them now. who is going to get the brunt of this? >> well, here's the line of showers we've been watching the past couple hours. nowsch notice the -- notice the reds and magentas and the possibility of hail. this is a pretty heavy storm southwest of leesburg, everything moving north and east. i want to zoom in on this storm between hagerstown and martinsburg. this may have some hail in it just to the southwest of hagerstown moving north and east. another storm up there just southwest of waynesboro not far from greencastle will run right in between you. that could also have some hail. we'll storm track this. this is headed for hagerstown about 6:02 and eventually up towards smithburg at 6:14. i would take these storms seriously. they could produce brief heavy downpours and flash flooding. where is the line going? by 7:00 essentially gaithersburg back to leesburg and just

. >> i'm jan jeffcoat. that incident happened a week ago. the little boy was rushed to the hospital, but he died yesterday. andrea mccarren is live outside engine 20 in northwest which should have responded to this case. >> reporter: this fire station is just 3 blocks from that boy's home, yet no one was ever dispatched from here. instead another station responded, one that took more than seven minutes to get help to that little boy. as a cloud of grief hangs over the family in this northwest washington home, d.c. fire and ems reflect on their actions the morning of march 13th. while the toddler choked on a grape it appears a 911 dispatcher sent paramedics from engine 31 at this connecticut avenue station to the warren street home, a distance of more than a mile. >> the closest available unit should have been dispatched, absolutely. >> reporter: it appears that didn't happen, though it's not clear why. engine 20 in tenleytown just down the street was never called. >> they were a paramedic engine company at that time. >> reporter: they were i

. >> and -- jan jeffcoat. >> and i'm derek mcginty. specifically, a group of minority businesses are alleging that mgm is not giving them the contracts they expected to get through the community benefit agreement that the company signed with prince george's county. allison barber has been digging into the story and in the news room with some new information. allison? >> reporter: well, some of those business owners were at the county council meeting earlier today reiterating concerns that we heard just last week. saying that they're being cut out of the billion dollar project or given what they call token contracts. murray edwards owned the business contract design and development for over a decade and he maintains he has been unfairly kept out of the mgm project at the national harbor. >> i was advised not to submit my bid. this was three weeks before the bid was due. >> reporter: he and others say that the contracts awarded tommy for toy owned buses are insignificant. worth thousands instead of millions. mgm repeatedly denied the cla
