future of the apple watch. cory: why? rafi: we know apple suffers from the curse of awesomeness. initial reviews have been good and encouraging, but at the end of the day we all know that apple is going to come out with a vigor and better version probably within a year, if you look at the cycle they do for the iphone. the big question is, forget about $17,000, are they going to be spending even $1000 for a watch which is in essence disposable? in one year the fashion will look outdated and the technology will be inferior. it's a big question, and this is further compounded by the fact that we upgrade with iphones all the time, but that is because they are subsidized by carriers, and you are not going to have the subsidy right now. the big question now is pricing strategy, are people going to say, this is cool, i went to the apple store and so it, but then they will sit back and say should i buy now or wait for a year? that is the big challenge they are facing with this pricing strategy. cory: i don't know who k

initially in the iphone now, in the apple watch. think about it for a moment, a watch son your body it's very secure. it's always there. if you're in a retail situation, the notion of putting your wrist up, your watch up to the pay station, is incredibly, it's just so convenient. that i think it will be a dramatic thing so when they did a million units sold on the first day. think you have to look at this as being really the pointy part of the spear for driving apple pay into the marketplace. and in the long run, if apple is successful with the watch. people will be buying lots and lots of things on that system. that means apple will be a huge factor in the banking industry. which is obviously much bigger than the watch business. and just as importantly, i think it means that secure documents are going to go from paper and plastic cards. into the ios environment. so match driver's licenses, so imagine your passport. it's much more secure to have the thing on your body, and with the apple watch, you're going to be able to have ways o

does apple really have the brand equity to keep the customer vested in the apple ecosystem? >> we think they do. we think at some point china will actually surpass the u.s. in terms of being the u.s.'s most important market. but if you kind of look at what's going on in china right now, you are just now kind of still relatively early in the 4 g adoption era and that as we continue to see the china market evolve apple will benefit as well as many other competitors but apple is a very strong brand out in china. consumers appear to love them so we expect very good things out of china for them. >> do you think that apple can get to one trillion market cap and if it can, what's the factor that will get it over the line? >> yeah. i mean we currently have a hold recommendation on the stock, $140 target price so we're not looking for that to happen here over the next 12 months? do we think they eventually could get to a trillion market cap, that's an interesting question. whether they can expand their measuring, i think it all depends on them but they definitely have the opportunity

because in science only the apple takes the fall. here everything that went up seems to be going down. so why don't we offer some perspective, explain why this apple is so important to the entire market which does feel on very shaky ground. if you own stocks, you own them because you want them to report numbers. both top line revenues and bottom line profits that are better than expected. the analyst numbers. you want the sales to be global and promising. the earnings to be thick with expanding gross margins. then you want analysts to guide the estimates higher because in biblical terms that's the holy grail of higher stock prices. you want stocks to really get rockin'? throw in a big juicy dividend boost and an awesome buy back expansion. so what happened with apple? it did all of those things and yet since the quarter the stock has now plummeted almost ten points in a straight line. now, let's make this apple story even more juicy. let's say that it sells at dramatic discount to the average piece of fruit out there as represent by

the interesting thing about apple tv is that apple keeps refusing to build the tv. everybody keeps predicting there will be an apple tv you put on your wall. and they don't build it. i believe that the big reason why they don't build the tv goes back to the power of the smartphone, which is, a smartphone upgrade cycle is two years. i think what apple figured out is the upgrade cycle for tv's is five years or seven years or 10 years. the tv, effectively, is fated. the tv will become a dumb peripheral for the smartphone. if you have a big tv nearby, you will use chromecast, one of these things, and beam to the tv. the tv will be the dumb recipient of the content. i think they think that is a low margin business that other people can pursue. emily: what is the future of elon musk? mark: obviously he will build the iron man suit.
