we are joined from bangkok, thailand. how many stranded migrants have been fortunate enough to land some where and how many more are still at sea? >> earl, it's difficult to try to add up. there have been various dottings and sightings of migrants landings. hundreds here. hundred there. we believe possibly up to 1,000 over the last week or so or maybe, few weeks. we believe there are 7,000 still stranded at sea on, on, hundreds of boats. now they have been, effectively chased around the sea by the country's in the region. in particular, thailand. malaysia, indonesia. finally, finally yesterday there was a breakthrough after a meeting where indonesia and malaysia agreed to finally take them in. and these people, errol, have been at sea for many, many, months. rohingya and bangladeshi refugees. the rohingya, 40%, turning up malnourished. you can imagine conditions. errol, rosemary? >> you have the summit june 29th. this issue high on the agenda. won't the solution, long term solution rely heavily on participation by myanmar

veronica sent this update from bangkok bangkok. >> reporter: in a dramatic motion they dropped food parcels to help a boat from 300 or so migrants from bang lash desh and myanmar. it looked like humanitarian assistance in the sense the food was dropped off, but at the same time the royal thai navy denied them the ability to land on they're tear to her and pulled them out to international waters. this is a short-term solution. the thai authorities want to show they're serious about cracking down on human trafficking, because it wanting to improve its record. it's being categoried in the bottom-most tier when it comes to the report issued by the united states every year. what's happening is the actual people involved is they are stuck out at sea being pushed away not just by thailand but by malaysia and indonesia. a few people do manage to get past and land as we've heard in this province today in thailand. about 100 people were able to land, but they have no citizenship. they have stateless and put in detention camps, once again, unable to live safe and free. >>> indonesian fishermen rescued

that it is unlikely that myanmar will attend a summit that that has been called by thailand here in bangkok to try to address the situation comprehensively across the region. they want to look at the causes and the mechanisms and the consequences of ma is going on. that myanmar is saying, no, this is a human trafficking problem these people are not refugees. the up shot of it however, is that people are dieing out at sea and not being rescued, they are simply being pushed back. one possible sign of the way the people rather than the governments in southeast asia feel is that we have heard in the last few howard that a boat of 800 people pushed out by the indonesian navy was in fact fouled by just ordinary indonesian fishermen. who took it upon themselves to take the human tracking victims put them on their boat and bring them in to hands and they are as they all are in desperate situations terribly hung are you and their health is suffering. >> thank you very much for bringing us up-to-date with those developments, veronica pedestrian roast alivepedroza. >> reporter: live from bangkok. >>>
