first, bernie sanders. it might be our favorite way to tell the world you are running for president. walk outside your office, say you only have a few minutes and speak your mind. here is bernie being bernie. bernie: how does it happen that the top 1% owns almost as much wealth as the bottom 90%? my conclusion is that that type of economics is not only immoral and wrong, it is unsustainable. it cannot continue. we cannot continue having a nation in which we have the highest rate of childhood poverty of any major nation on earth at the same time we are seeing a proliferation of millionaires and billionaires. mark: bernie sanders does talk about other issues, but how potent will that core economic message be with democrats in caucuses and primaries? al: "the national review" has to be popping the champagne corks. we have heard for how many years -- democrats are socialists. now they have one. bernie is the real deal. i think there is a genuine appeal, populist appeal in america, anti-wall street, anti-big ban

host: bernie sanders is 73. guest: the first important point is the optics around why she's running. is she running because she is so ambitious that she just can't help herself or is she running because she wants to do good things for this nation? you're going to get a different answer from just about everybody you talk to. and one thing that drives me a little nuts about hillary clinton and the advisors around her is that they don't know they have that problem. "sportscenter" they do know they have that problem, they're not doing much to address that problem. so that's number one. but number, two let's talk about the age factor what's really interesting is that hillary clinton is 68. so it's not like with all due respect to 68-year-olds, she's a spring chicken. joe biden 72. part of the reason he is choosing not to run for president. we're 44 -- the last president offense the united states were 44. is america ready for grandma and chief? i don't know. and that's going to be a really big question in this electio

a next door neighbor state for bernie sanders. the voters in iowa the voters in new hampshire, these are the types of voters he is accustom to appealing to. he has a message to resinate to lower income rural voters. so the path of bernie sanders to the nomination that's very difficult to see. the path to bernie sanders making some serious noise in iowa and new hampshire and causing some serious headaches for hillary clinton in iowa and new hampshire, that's not as hard to see. >> the -- bernie sanders faces a similar challenge that robert kennedy faced when he ran and gene mccarthy faced within the party, which is they didn't want to in any kind of personal kind of way attack president johnson. bernie sanders took a page right out of bobby kennedy's play book today saying this is not about hillary clinton and it's not about anyone else in the race. let's listen to the way bobby kennedy said this about president johnson back when he made his announcement. >> my decision reflects no personal animosity or disrespect toward president
