david shuster joins us now. i don't want to sound naive, but how do you have a super pact run the campaign when the law requires no accord in addition? >> you ensure there's no direct or indirect discussion, and you try to make sure that somebody who might be running the campaign is making those crucial decisions about advertising. that is where the campaign is different from the rest. everybody has the super pictures. ted cruz and others. the big difference here is that if you have somebody that you trust implicitly as jed bush does he can say okay, mike murphy you think about how you would respond if you were me and take the decisions about what to run, what response adds and issues. i trust you implicitly. we have a mind meld that you can look out to with a super-pact. it's a risk. clearly jed bush has the trust that others do not. >> not only unlimited donation but this time the possibility of giving money without having your own personnel fingerprints on it. if you give to the not for profit. no one has to

david shuster is here now. david what have we learned so far? >> these are emails that hillary clinton turned over to the state department last fall from her private server and she said these are the ones related to government business. what has happened is some of those emails from the house have now leaked to the "new york times." here is the state department saying okay if the house is leaking them we're going to start releasing them. the first batch represents about a third of all of the emails. and what is interesting is that none of them are classified but a lot of them are stamped with sbu, which is the government identification for sensitive but unclassified, and that's because some of these emails hillary clinton lists the location of state department staff who were in libya at the time things were starting to get rough, so again, these are things on her private server that are sensitive and that will fuel some of the criticism, because private servers don't have the same security protections. the emails paint an interesting picture of

david shuster is here with more on this. david what happened in court today? >> what happened in court is this bridge gate scandal may have just derailed chris christie's presidential ambitions. his chief of staff was indicted on nine counts including conspiracy to exact political vengeance. according to the indictment these two, along with a federal witness, essentially who pled guilty and is providing information, there was this conspiracy to have retribution against the mayor of fort lee, new jersey who failed to support christie in his election and this was not only a big inconvenience with the bridge lane closures but it violated criminal law. >> mr. whilesteen who was then the director of international capitol projects admitted in federal court this morning that he and others orchestrated a deliberate and illegal scheme to reduce the access lanes from 3 to 1 to punish the mayor of fort lee for not endorsing governor christie's election. >> it is alleged that governor christie was told that week about the scheme. and there was a telling moment from the u.

i'm david shuster. the u.s. commerce department just released a new report about the american economy, and it indicates that the economy went down and gdp in the first three months of this year shrank. patty what happened? >> reporter: this was the first revised reading, and it wasn't unexpected. to keep that in mind. gross domestic product shrank 0.7% in the first three months. the big drag was exports. there were some temporary factors behind that including bad weather, and strikes disrupt k activity at u.s. ports, but a strong dollar also dragged on exports because it makes american goods more expensive to buy abroad. meanwhile imports increased 5.6%. consumer spending rose 1.8%. and that marks a sharp decline from last year. and that matters a lot. now that the awful first quarter is behind us ihf chief economist expects consumer spending to pick up steam. >> the good news is the consumer is still in pretty good shape financially. for example we think in the second quarter consumer spending willing grow 2.5%
