anna, thank you. today the first funerals were held for victims of last week's church shooting in charleston, south carolina. nine people were gunned down during bible study at emanuel a.m.e. church. tonight at the church you see there, there is a public viewing for the pastor, state senator clementa pinckney. michelle miller is in charleston. >> reporter: family members wept and embraced as they said their final good-byes to ethel lance, the 70-year-old mother of five and grand moir of seven died in the church she served all her life. brandon risher is her grandson. >> you know, most people don't get to represent a symbol in death. she was a victim of hate. and she can be a symbol for love. that's what she was in life.
